Who We Are
We're so glad you found us because this is a role built for someone who loves organization, thrives on details, and gets excited about seeing great products in the hands of enthusiastic customers.
BigBadToyStore is a leading destination for collectors, gamers, and pop culture fans around the globe. Through BigBadGameStore, we're creating a retail experience that brings tabletop gaming, collectibles, and hobby products to life. We are passionate about what we do, and we're looking for people who share that excitement.
This is a full-time, onsite position and work hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday.
The Opportunity
Do spreadsheets make you smile? Do you enjoy connecting the dots between inventory, purchasing, product availability, and merchandising execution? If so, you might be exactly who we're looking for.
We're seeking a Retail Merchandising Specialist to join our Product Department and play a critical role in keeping our retail operation running smoothly. This isn't a traditional buyer role. Instead, you'll be the person who helps bring approved buying and merchandising strategies to life by coordinating purchases, monitoring inventory, working with vendors, and ensuring merchandising plans are executed accurately and on schedule.
You'll serve as a key connection between our Category Manager and Store Manager, helping ensure products arrive when they should, inventory levels remain healthy, and store resets happen smoothly. If you love staying organized, solving problems, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks, keep reading.
What to Bring
- Experience in purchasing, inventory management, merchandising, retail operations, supply chain, or a related field.
- Experience working with vendors and processing purchase orders.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to review inventory, purchasing, and financial information accurately.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Even better if you have knowledge of tabletop games, collectibles, hobby products, specialty retail, or e-commerce
What You'll Do
Keep Inventory Moving
- Review sales trends, inventory levels, and stock status to support replenishment decisions.
- Help prepare initial and restock order recommendations for review and approval.
- Monitor inventory aging and identify products that may require review.
- Coordinate approved product transfers between locations.
- Process approved pricing changes, markdowns, and closeout activities.
Be the Go-To Partner for Vendor Coordination
- Communicate with vendors regarding availability, open orders, shipment timing, and fulfillment status.
- Monitor backorders, delays, shortages, substitutions, and cancellations.
- Resolve order issues and discrepancies before they become bigger problems.
- Maintain organized and accurate vendor communication records.
Own the Purchasing Process
- Place approved purchase orders through vendor portals, websites, and established ordering channels.
- Verify confirmations, invoices, pricing, quantities, and shipment information.
- Coordinate resolution of order and invoice discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate purchasing documentation and records.
Help Bring the Sales Floor to Life
- Coordinate product ordering and shipment timing for store resets and merchandising changes.
- Communicate merchandising plans and timelines to store leadership.
- Track product availability against planned merchandising activities.
- Help ensure signage, pricing, product transitions, and merchandising materials are in place.
- Provide updates on merchandising projects and reset progress.
Collaborate Across the Company
- Partner with Merchandising, Store Operations, Logistics, Warehouse Operations, and Finance teams.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Category Manager and Store Manager.
- Identify and escalate inventory, vendor, and timing concerns when appropriate.
- Support additional sourcing and purchasing projects as needed.
What It Takes to Succeed
We're looking for someone who:
- Loves details and takes pride in getting things right.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with vendors and teammates.
- Can juggle priorities without losing sight of deadlines.
- Enjoys solving problems and finding solutions.
- Takes ownership, follows through, and keeps projects moving.
- Knows when to work independently and when to escalate decisions appropriately.
