Maintenance Mechanic Intern

Job Summary
As a Maintenance Mechanic Intern, you will work closely with our maintenance team to develop the skills and knowledge required for an Entry-Level Maintenance Mechanic role. This internship offers hands-on experience in state-of-the-art food manufacturing facilities, providing exposure to advanced equipment and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive training on CMMS systems, inventory management, and planning/scheduling of maintenance work orders
- Modify, repair, install, maintain, and troubleshoot machinery, equipment, and facilities within processing and packaging departments
- Diagnose mechanical issues and deliver innovative solutions for equipment breakdowns using skills in mechanics, fitting, basic welding, metal fabrication, troubleshooting, and analytical problem-solving
- Operate machine shop tools such as drill presses, grinders, and saws
- Assist with setup, takedown, and relocation of bakery and packaging equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections
- Respond promptly to equipment-related issues with a customer-focused approach
- Safely operate scissor lifts as required (following training and certification)
Key Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs is an asset
- Commitment to pursuing a Mechanical Certification
- Passion for mechanical repair and problem-solving
- Valid driver’s licence and vehicle is an asset
- Comfortable working rotating shifts (evenings, weekends)
