Cobb – By-Product Lead/QA Inspector - Full Time – Timpson, Texas

Location:  Timpson Hatchery, Timpson, TX  75975

                                                                                      

Hiring Requirements:

This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex. Priority consideration will be provided to these applicants first. If local Team Members are not selected, Team Members from other locations or external applicants will then be reviewed for consideration.

Starting Wage:  $21.20 per hour - Plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.

Schedule:  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday apx 6:00 to 2:30pm with alternating Tuesday/Friday off each week.  May include some holidays and weekends as needed.  Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Position Summary:

Supervises and coordinates team members involved in By-Product chick processing, vaccine preparation and administration, equipment sanitation, and hatchery operations. Ensures production schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements are met while maintaining a safe work environment. Monitors chick processing activities, verifies compliance with critical control points, conducts quality inspections and testing, analyzes production data, and helps maintain the reliability and quality of outgoing chicks. Also oversees equipment cleanliness, maintenance needs, and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Six months of leadership and related experience preferred. Experience with MicroSoft Office may be applicable.  (Currently no computer experience required, but would be considered a plus.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, supervise, and participate in all By-Product processing operations, including grading, vaccination, toe trimming, and de-toeing, while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures including biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety procedures. Train and assist new Team Members as needed.

• Address complaints and resolve operational issues and customer concerns.
• Inspect, weigh, and grade chick quality.  Perform injection quality and box count checks, toe trimming, de-toeing, and grading according to quality standards.
• Monitor robots and injection equipment; check for improper injections and identify poor-quality birds.
• Count by-product chicks and perform box counts and maintain accurate counts match up with Pull Crew and Sexor numbers.
• Prepare vaccines according to customer requirements and perform vaccine mixing as needed.
• Verify customer orders are complete, accurate, and ready for transportation pickup.
• Ensure customers receive the correct number of chicks and all requested services, including vaccination, dubbing, toe/beak treatment, grading, and counting, while meeting production schedules and quality standards.

• Prepare lids, cull boxes, and other materials required for chick processing operations.

• Complete all required daily paperwork and recordkeeping including customer paperwork, work orders, hatch percentages, export documentation, and any domestic/international paperwork.  Enter production data in computer and maintain accurate daily records and reports.
• Operate high-pressure and standard water hoses. Maintain foot pans, hand sanitizers, and biosecurity requirements. 
• Maintain lead position attendance standards of four attendance points or fewer.
• Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or changed at any time with or without notice. Responsibilities may include conducting weekly team meetings; ordering and maintaining supplies and inventory; organizing and separating flocks; monitoring chick weight and breakout data; packing eggs; make and cut vitamin gel. assisting regular processing crew; properly euthanizing weak or ill chicks in accordance with company policy; cleaning chick processing equipment and performing laundry duties as needed; and all while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:

• The jobsite is a bio secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.  Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company.  No jewelry may be worn on the job site except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid contact with any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Physical:  Must use safe lifting techniques.  Must regularly push or pull chick boxes weighing up to 125 lbs.  Must lift chick boxes weighing up to 40 lbs.  While performing the duties if this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift on a concrete floor; walk; sit’ and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; talk or hear.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth per caption; and the ability to adjust focus.
• Tools and Equipment:  Computer, calculator, etc.
• Environment:  Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
• Personal Protective Equipment Required:  Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicals.  Ear plugs and ear mugs will be used as needed.
• Chemicals Commonly Used:  Formaldehyde is in use at the facility.  Also used is disinfectants and lubricants.
• Safety: Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks. 
• Mask policy will be in accordance with any local, state, or federal requirements but will be provided to any Team Member wishing to wear a mask.
