Description
ROLE SUMMARY
The Advocacy & Professional Relations Director (APR) is part of the Pfizer Specialty Care Patient Solutions Team and reports directly to the US Patient Engagement Lead for ATTR/SCD/AA. This role carries a dual therapeutic area (TA) remit: the Amyloidosis/ATTR-CM community, representing the majority (approximately 80%) of the role’s focus, and the Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) community, representing approximately 20%, including leadership of Pfizer’s ongoing Council for Sickle Cell CHANGE work.
It is this person’s responsibility to establish and maintain strong and lasting relationships with Patient Organizations and Professional Societies that support our presence in both the Amyloidosis and SCD communities. These relationships with national advocacy groups and other professional societies will be essential for Pfizer Specialty Care to achieve personal and departmental business goals that are not normally attainable through traditional business channels via:
Developing and implementing initiatives that provide value-add potential for key stakeholders aligned with TA-specific strategic priorities that position Pfizer as a credible and relevant partner.
Advancing partnerships with patient and professional organizations to help deliver insights and leadership for Specialty Care Therapeutic Areas within Pfizer’s portfolio.
Building new relationships with Advocacy Groups as well as Community Partners across both the ATTR-CM and SCD communities.
Alignment of National Brand Strategies to Patient Engagement initiatives and partnerships across two therapeutic areas.
Developing Advocacy and Community Forums that can address patient needs across ATTR and SCD.
Stewarding Pfizer’s leadership of the Council for Sickle Cell CHANGE, a multi-stakeholder initiative uniting health systems, community-based organizations (CBOs), professional societies, and patient advocates to improve care for the sickle cell community, and guiding its evolution toward a sustainable, multi-company coalition model.
Gathering metrics, trends, & insights across the business to inform Sr. Leadership of the team’s achievements and KPIs across both TAs.
Interactions with key stakeholders that demonstrate an ability to meet customer needs with a balanced commitment to the Pfizer Patient Engagement Team business objectives.
Demonstrating through thoughtful partnerships a compelling vision to outside organizations that generates respect and provides a competitive advantage for Pfizer Specialty Care.
Exhibiting strong relationship skills and the ability to foster and communicate the Advocacy & Professional Relations vision and remit to numerous cross-functional Pfizer workstreams.
Providing Patient and Professional Alliances content and expertise to commercial colleagues during the Strategic Planning process.
Continuing to build the cross-functional model that our team fosters by collaborating with internal and external key stakeholders to successfully achieve Pfizer’s objectives to serve patients and find new answers to unmet medical challenges.
Health Equity Support by driving patient-centered advocacy strategy to advance equitable outcomes in Heart Failure and ATTR-CM – with a focus on improving early awareness, diagnosis confidence, access to care, and patient experience, particularly for Black/African American and underserved communities – and in SCD, where long-standing disparities in acute access to care, treatment, and patient experience disproportionately affect these same communities.
Demonstrating Pfizer’s willingness to partner with peer companies toward unified goals; collaborating across stakeholders to increase confidence diagnosing ATTR-CM and to sustain multi-company collaboration in the SCD community.
Ultimately, this individual will bring focus, expertise, and prioritized action such that Pfizer establishes a leadership position in ATTR-CM and sustains a credible, trusted leadership presence in the SCD community.
