Hybrid – a mix of home working and time in our Chelmsford or Bristol office.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Regional Underwriter to join our Motor Trade team.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine technical underwriting expertise with broker relationship management, helping us deliver profitable growth across our Regional Motor Trade Combined portfolio.

The Team

👉 Our Motor Trade Underwriting team works closely with regional brokers to deliver profitable growth, excellent service and strong underwriting performance. We focus on developing long-term broker relationships while supporting quality outcomes for customers and the wider business.

What you can expect in this role

  • Underwriting new and existing Motor Trade Combined business.

  • Developing and managing broker relationships across the region.

  • Supporting portfolio growth through effective trading and retention activity.

  • Taking ownership of complex underwriting cases and negotiations.

  • Acting as a technical referral point for colleagues.

  • Using market and broker insight to identify trends, risks and opportunities.

What you might bring

  • Experience underwriting and trading Motor Trade Combined business.

  • Knowledge of the broker market and regional trading environment.

  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.

  • Sound underwriting judgement and technical expertise.

  • Communication skills with the ability to influence brokers and stakeholders.

  • Dip CII, or progress towards, would be advantageous.
