Role Summary

The Cloud Engineering, Senior Specialist role provides senior expert level technical support for the most critical and complex projects. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves hardware or software issues for new and existing technologies and tools. The role also includes technical leadership, vendor evaluation, issue resolution, and mentoring junior staff, while contributing to automation and infrastructure improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Manages, plans, and implements new enterprise-wide technologies and major releases for the most critical and complex enterprise-wide IT cloud platform projects. Designs, implements, and deploys cloud computing systems to support and meet the most complex and critical business needs. Anticipates current and future needs of the organization to make recommendations for improvement and performance issue solutions.
• Provides expert-level technical support and ensures reliable operation of cloud production across all systems. Diagnoses and troubleshoots the most complex issues for cloud computing systems on multiple platforms. Maintains expert technical knowledge of software and infrastructure platforms.
• Develops alternatives for modifications to cloud computing systems and implements solutions that meet long-term business objectives and current organizational requirements. Tests and evaluates IT vendor products. Reviews complex configuration parameters to optimize system performance and maximize operation uptime.
• Elevates complex code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provides follow-up production support. Submits change control requests and documents.
• Learns and understands client area business functions and requirements. Provides thought leadership and develops technical standards to serve Vanguard technical needs. Determines the appropriate technical tool to address the client's business needs.
• Trains and mentors more junior staff on processes and technologies. Troubleshoots and resolves the most complex issues elevated from staff. Provides expert guidance and consultation as required. Updates, writes, and maintains documentation for the department.
• Administers system activities. Writes the technical portion of assigned complex deliverables. Performs systems analysis, including system requirements analysis and definition, and logical design.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintain the security of cloud infrastructure, ensuring compliance with both internal business standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Oversee and monitor hybrid cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance, uptime, and resource allocation for the organization.
• Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline the deployment, management, and scaling of cloud-based resources, improving operational efficiency.
• Establish and manage disaster recovery protocols, ensuring robust backup strategies and minimizing data loss risks for cloud-based systems.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in cloud engineering, cloud infrastructure management, or IT systems integration.
• Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Hands-on expertise in deploying and managing enterprise cloud platforms across multi-cloud or hybrid environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance, disaster recovery, and automation practices.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Confluence, and JIRA for project tracking and team collaboration.
• Excellent communication and mentorship abilities to guide junior engineers and engage with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with enterprise cloud platforms, database technologies, data replication, automation, or infrastructure services.
• Familiarity with DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and cloud governance practices.
• AWS certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Cloud Practitioner, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
• Experience leading teams through transformation, modernization, or cloud migration initiatives.
• Strong technical credibility without requiring day-to-day coding responsibilities.
• Sound judgment and the ability to make difficult decisions under pressure.
• Exceptional leadership and coaching skills.
• High emotional intelligence and stakeholder management capabilities.
• A natural ability to recognize patterns, connect disparate information, and solve complex problems.
• The ability to influence outcomes, drive alignment, and lead through ambiguity.

Location

This role is based in Hyderabad, Telangana at Vanguard’s India office. Only qualified external applicants will be considered.
