About Nonantum Veterinary Clinic

Nonantum Veterinary Clinic is a full-service companion animal hospital in Landenberg, Pennsylvania, approximately one hour outside Philadelphia. Our 8,000-square-foot facility supports a busy general practice with a significant surgical and dental caseload.

We are currently entering an exciting new chapter with new leadership, renewed investment, and a strong vision for the future of the hospital. We are looking for veterinary professionals who want to be part of that growth and have the opportunity to help shape what comes next.

The Opportunity

As an Unlicensed Veterinary Technician at Nonantum, you'll work closely with our veterinarians and medical team throughout the patient care process. This position combines hands-on nursing care, anesthesia and surgical support, diagnostics, client education, and day-to-day hospital operations.

You'll play an important role in keeping patient care running smoothly while helping us maintain a high standard of medicine and a positive experience for both clients and their pets.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care to hospitalized patients, including IV catheter placement, CRI management, medication administration, feeding tube placement, and ongoing patient monitoring.
  • Prepare patients for surgical procedures and provide anesthesia monitoring and recovery care, with a focus on safety and patient comfort throughout the process.
  • Partner with veterinarians during examinations, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and surgeries by providing appropriate restraint, preparation, and patient monitoring.
  • Conduct laboratory diagnostics such as urinalysis, hematology, fecal testing, and cytology, while accurately documenting, interpreting, and communicating results as appropriate.
  • Operate and maintain radiology and ultrasound equipment while following established safety and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications, vaccines, and treatments in accordance with DEA, OSHA, and hospital requirements.
  • Complete daily controlled drug logs and ensure controlled substances are handled, stored, and documented appropriately.
  • Create, review, and accurately enter treatment plans into the medical record system.
  • Help maintain efficient hospital operations through accurate medical records, charge entry, and chart auditing.
  • Provide clients with compassionate and easy-to-understand education regarding preventative care, treatment plans, medications, products, and nutritional recommendations.
  • Keep treatment and surgical spaces clean, organized, stocked, and prepared for medical and surgical procedures, including maintaining sterile conditions as required.
  • Monitor inventory, rotate supplies, and assist with ordering medical supplies when needed.
  • Contribute to a positive, professional workplace by communicating effectively and working collaboratively with teammates across the hospital.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the needs of the hospital.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with applicable state practice acts, legal requirements, and hospital policies.

What You'll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least two years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, laboratory procedures, radiology, and dentistry.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to navigate practice management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities, with the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team.
  • The ability to remain professional, composed, and exercise sound judgment in high-stress or emotionally charged situations.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A compassionate approach and genuine commitment to excellent patient care and client service.
  • The ability to safely work around cleaning chemicals, anesthetic gases, radiation, zoonotic diseases, and animal bodily fluids.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and safely handle animals weighing up to 130 pounds.
  • Comfort with sitting, standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • A professional and neat appearance consistent with hospital standards.
