What You'll Be Doing
Job Scope: Provide Project Engineering services to support the FEL3 and Implementation phases of the P5 Capacity with a focus on supporting the Project Manager and Construction Manager in managing the Engineering Firm, Project Staff, Mill Staff, Vendors and Contractors.
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Assist the Project Manager with miscellaneous project engineering work.
Manage the Mill and Project Team review of the Engineer and Vendor Drawings to insure timely and relevant comments are transmitted back to the Requester.
Assist in the management the Mill and Project Staff to ensure timely completion of their assigned tasks. Manage the Master Action List
Assist in the management of the Project Administrative and Document Control Staff to insure accurate filing and document distribution.
Assist in the management of the Contractor by coaching them in the development of their Outage Preparation presentations.
Assist in the management of the RFI and Construction Bulletin processes.
Understanding the Project Scope identifying Project Scope Changes and ensuring that these are brought to the Project Manager in the proper format for approval prior to execution of the work.
Spending time each day studying the construction drawings well in advance of the start of the work shown on the drawings. Consider them from the viewpoint of one who is to actually construct what is shown on the drawings. Obtain additional information and clarifications, as required;
Note any unusual features on the drawings, which call for any special equipment, materials or skilled labor, etc., and draw these points to the Contractor’s attention.
Assist the Contractor in interpretation of drawings;
Advise the Engineer of all errors and omissions found on the drawings so that they can be revised and the drawings re-issued;
Assist with operational and maintenance training plans and implementation.
Ensure adequate documentation is provided to Operations and Maintenance.
Participate in the investigation of performance reliability of new equipment before equipment is purchased.
Participate in factory acceptance testing and installation inspections.
Participate in status meetings and on-going communication with mill members
Monitor contractor safety and follow up on any issues.
Assist with maintaining normal operation during pre-construction and construction.
Follow-up with field issues during construction phases.
Participate in checkout, start-up and commissioning activities.
Expedite equipment and material deliveries affecting the project;
Expedite all information and decisions which threaten to delay the work by advising the responsible parties, in writing, of the consequences if their information or decision is not forthcoming.
Direct inspection of the work for workmanship and progress;
Maintaining a daily dairy of all work done in his charge in the area and noting any special items which may later be helpful in evaluating Contractor’s claims
Ideal Background
Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required.
Registration: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.
Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.
