Position Summary
This part-time, 9 month position is responsible for providing front-line operational support for the East Center of San Juan College. The position serves as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and approved visitors, ensuring access to the facility, supporting instructional activities, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, and reporting facility maintenance and repair needs.MAJOR DUTIES
- Greets and assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors entering the facility.
- Provides access to authorized students, faculty, community partners, and visitors conducting approved business at the center.
- Monitors facility activity and helps ensure compliance with college policies and procedures.
- Provides basic security support by observing facility conditions, reporting safety concerns, monitoring building access, and notifying appropriate personnel of unusual or suspicious activity.
- Opens and secures the facility according to established procedures.
- Reports maintenance, custodial, safety, and repair needs to the appropriate department.
- Conducts routine observations of classrooms, common areas, and building grounds to identify operational concerns.
- Provides basic classroom support for faculty and students, including assistance with room readiness, instructional materials, classroom technology, and general troubleshooting.
- Supports students by providing information regarding facility resources, classroom locations, and available services.
- Maintains college informational and promotional materials throughout the facility.
- Assists with event and meeting room preparation as assigned.
- Helps maintain a clean, organized, professional, and welcoming environment for all facility users.
- Documents and communicates operational concerns to appropriate college personnel.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Director assigns work in terms of general instructions and established procedures. The supervisor reviews work through observations, reports, discussions and evaluation of results achieved.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include college and department policies and procedures, building access protocols, safety standards and established operational practices. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some judgement to determine appropriate responses to concerns requiring escalation.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
• The work consists of a variety of operational support, customer service, facility monitoring, and classroom support duties. Frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, and visitors contributes to the complexity of the position.
• The purpose of this position is to support the daily operation of the East Center by providing facility access, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, supporting instructional activities, and ensuring operational concerns are appropriately reported and addressed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping or walking. The employee occasionally lifts light object and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
- The work is typically performed in an educational facility and may require movement between classrooms, common areas, and building exterior spaces.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
None.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- One to two years of experience in customer services, facility operations, educational support services, security support or a related field.
- Experience working with the public in a professional environment preferred.
