Shell Trading & Supply has a global portfolio of crude oil, refined products, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), chemicals, natural gas, electrical power, and CO2. Trading offices are in the US, Canada, UK, Singapore, The Netherlands, Japan, Bahamas, and Dubai, with many other downstream entities situated across the globe.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of Demurrage and Post Deal Expense claim professionals in Manila. The team will provide Demurrage and Post Deal claim analysis, defense, pursuit, advise and settlement on behalf of companies within the North American business, such as Shell Trading (US) Company (STUSCO), Shell Oil Products US (SOPUS) and Shell Trading Canada.

What you’ll be doing

  • Claims Management: Maintain and prioritize a portfolio of claims daily, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

  • Claims Preparation & Negotiation: Proactively calculate, prepare, and negotiate claims to minimize exposure to Shell entities. Submit recovery claims before time bar deadlines. Investigate voyage events and compare them against contractual terms.

  • Payment Processing: Ensure timely payment of approved claims, adhering to internal approval and settlement procedures.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the trading desk to align on objectives, share exposure insights, and support decision-making.

  • System Accuracy: Ensure all claim-related activities are accurately reflected in financial and trading systems, including Profit and Loss impact.

  • Portfolio Oversight: Support the line manager with portfolio insights, system clean-ups, and data integrity initiatives.

  • Continuous Improvement: Apply root cause analysis to recommend operational and contractual improvements that reduce claim exposure.

  • Escalation & Compliance: Follow escalation protocols and ensure compliance with sanctions, data confidentiality, and counterpart changes.

  • Process Enhancement: Contribute to process improvements with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Audit & Safety: Uphold safety standards, compliance, and audit readiness.

  • Project Support: Participate in internal projects and training initiatives as needed.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent professional experience. Relevant fields may include but not limited to Maritime Administration, Petroleum Engineering, Marine Engineering, Logistics. Previous work experience will be taken into consideration for any candidates who might not meet the educational standard.

  • Experience in Maritime, Legal, Sales, or Claims is considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of shipping and/or trading.

  • Proficiency with systems such as Endur, RADAR, Salesforce, and SAP.

  • Commercial awareness, with a strong understanding of business operations and ability to make decisions and take actions that support the strategic goals of business partners.

  • Ability to effectively handle situations that deviate from established processes.

  • Process improvement — demonstrated success in identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce risk exposure.

  • Independent working style — capable of operating autonomously while seeking guidance when necessary.

  • Strong interpersonal skills — evidence of building and maintaining productive relationships across teams and stakeholders.

Work Schedule

North America business hours are observed, with shift schedules of 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM or 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
