Description
Associate Director, AI Solution Delivery
Role Summary
The Associate Director, AI Solution Delivery is the hands-on technical delivery arm of the central AI Transformation Office, working in tandem with the Director, AI Technical Delivery & Standards. Where the Director sets the standards - AI SDLC, reference-architecture conformance, evaluation and validation expectations - this role turns them into working practice: building and shipping centrally delivered AI solutions, operating the evaluation harnesses, embedding lifecycle checkpoints into live projects, and leading the technically oriented special projects the central team delivers with individual workstreams and functional areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution delivery - build and ship centrally delivered AI solutions hands-on - prompt and workflow design, RAG configuration, agentic patterns, API and platform integration - from prototype through production handover to the owning team.
- Evaluation execution - operate the evaluation harnesses and benchmarks defined with the Director, AI Technical Delivery & Standards; run pre-scale assessments (accuracy, safety, cost, latency) and publish results teams can act on.
- AI SDLC in practice - embed AI SDLC checkpoints into live programs and projects; coach delivery teams through them so the lifecycle is followed because it helps, not because it is mandated.
- Validation coordination - prepare validation-ready documentation and evidence packages for AI solutions; coordinate with quality, regulatory, and healthcare-grade AI stakeholders through the validation process.
- Technical special projects - lead the technically oriented special projects delivered with individual WS/FPs - for example solution builds with commercial teams, technical process definition, or focused engineering problem-solving events.
- Solution & vendor assessment - run technical due diligence on vendor and internal AI proposals; design and score proofs of concept against defined evaluation criteria.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years in software, data, or AI/ML solution delivery, technical consulting, or engineering-adjacent program roles, including 2+ years hands-on with GenAI/LLM solutions.
- Practical build skills: prompt engineering and evaluation design, RAG and agentic workflow patterns, API integration; working ability in Python or an equivalent scripting/low-code environment.
- Experience preparing solutions for validation, quality, or audit processes in a regulated or quality-managed environment.
- Able to lead delivery with mixed technical and business stakeholders and hand solutions over cleanly to owning teams.
- Clear written and verbal communication of technical results - evaluation reports, assessment summaries, decision-ready recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with major AI platforms (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, Azure AI, AWS Bedrock) and evaluation tooling.
- Life sciences / healthcare technology background; familiarity with GxP or healthcare-grade AI expectations.
- Prior engineering, data science, or solution-architecture role before moving toward delivery leadership.
Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)
- Evaluation harness operational and used as the standard pre-scale gate for central AI solutions.
- At least three centrally delivered solutions or technical special projects shipped and handed over to owning teams.
- Validation packages for central solutions pass review without material rework.
