Director of Supply Chain

The Director of Supply Chain will be responsible for the implementation and ownership of all supply chain activities and processes, including, but not limited to, Sales & Operations Planning, demand planning, customer service, supply planning, scheduling, distribution & logistics, procurement of API’s and components to support production, purchase order planning for finished goods from 3rd party vendors and the Group, optimizing cash flow and inventory investment.  This position will oversee a team of 15.

Leadership:

Drive the Virbac North America Executive Sales & Operations Planning process including:

• Development of consensus demand plan
• Generation of supply plans supporting the consensus demand plan.
• Collaborating with marketing, sales, operations, finance, to align on a single unified operating plan
• Leading the Executive S&OP meeting and driving discussions leading to decisions, direction setting and allocation of critical resources needed to support the operating plan
• Foster the use of metrics to drive continuous improvement in customer service, financial optimization and sales
• Coaches, develops and mentors team members to strengthen the value of the Supply Planning organization.

Demand Planning:

• Identifying key risks and opportunities associated with the ex-Factory demand plans and highlighting gaps to budget and quarterly estimates for gap closing options within the Integrated Business Planning process.
• Coordinating and facilitating a monthly Demand meeting to present the key assumptions, risks and opportunities to the Vice Presidents for Industrial Operations and Quality Assurance
•       Submitting to the Executive S&OP team key messages and recommendations identified during the monthly Planning process.
• Foster the use of metrics to drive continuous improvement in supply planning

Supply Planning: 

• Development of long term finished goods and API supply plans by the Supply Planning team supporting the consensus demand plan.
• Identifying key risks and opportunities associated with the supply plans and developing recommendations to optimize the use of resources while achieving customer service objectives and optimizing inventory within the Integrated Business Planning process.
• Coordinating and facilitating a monthly Supply meeting to present the key assumptions, risks and opportunities to the Vice President of Strategic Sourcing & Supply and the Vice President of Industrial Operations
• Submitting to the Executive S&OP team the key messages and recommendations identified during the monthly Supply Planning process
• Foster the use of metrics to drive continuous improvement in supply planning

Scheduling and Operations Planning:

• Schedule production to support the supply plan, considering production resource limitations and utilizing approved external 3rd party vendors, as and when required.
• Ensure availability of all raw materials and components to support production at the plant and contract manufacturers.
• Monitor inbound raw materials and components, including inventory levels, to ensure availability of sufficient released materials to support the production schedule and supply plan
• Monitor schedule adherence and attainment ensuring the on time production of finished goods to support the supply plan
• Identify and implement Finished Goods and Raw Material safety stock values that will support customer fill rate expectations
• Forecast cash flow for purchased Finished Goods and Raw Materials
• Manage Goods in Transit inventories and ensure that these are considered for mid-year and year-end inventory projections.
• Generate net inventory and inventory turns forecasts versus budgeted values to identify gaps and develop gap closing actions
• Identify and implement Finished Goods and Raw Material safety stock values that will support customer fill rate expectations
• Forecast cash flow for purchased Finished Goods and Raw Material
• Manage Goods in Transit inventories and ensure that these are considered for mid-year and year-end inventory projections.

Customer Service and Distribution: 

• Delivering products to customers on time, meeting customer expectations
• Provide timely support of customer needs and effective issue resolution
• Build customer relationship and loyalty, meet or exceed customer expectations in a profitable manner
• Optimize warehousing, distribution and logistics costs
• Ensure safe operation of all warehousing and distribution facilities in compliance with established procedures and expectations
• Drive improvements in customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and flexibility while containing and reducing distribution and warehousing costs
• Develop inventory plans supporting customer fill rate expectations while optimizing working capital
• Generate net inventory and inventory turns forecasts versus budgeted values to identify gaps and develop gap closing actions

New Product Launch:

• Collaborate with the Project Management Organization, R&D, TID, and marketing teams to develop forecasts for new product launches
• Generate supply plans to support new product forecasts including load in and launch quantities.

Experience and Requirements: 

• BA/BS in Supply Chain, Engineering, Science, Business or equivalent. APICS – CPIM preferred
• 10 years minimum experience in the supply chain, animal health or human pharmaceutical industry, or equivalent experience.
