The Production Lead ESPN France serves the operations of sports (ESPN) on Disney+ in France

Overall Purpose of the role
The Production Lead ESPN France is a key role within our ESPN organization across EMEA-regions when it comes to sports on Disney+ and will work alongside and together with the Disney+ Programming team, Planning & Scheduling teams, Disney Marketing and Creative departments, Digital Product teams, global editorial ESPN-teams for digital and social, ESPN Production teams across the world, production partners (e.g. Two Circles and Southfields) and the wider local and international Disney+ content team.
The purpose of the role is to coordinate all sports-related production of ESPN on Disney+ in France. The person will be responsible for the coordination of Hostbroadcasting and Unilateral productions for ESPN/Disney+, as well as hire and coach commentators, hosts and pundits, and create live productions and VoD-assets for the Disney+ platform.
The person will pivot between, interact with and work together with Disney+ teams, ESPN teams (editorial, production, scheduling, digital, marketing, creative), talent and production companies. A deep understanding of sports and sports production is vital. Previous long-lasting experience in this areas is required. A strong multi-lingual knowledge is preferred.
The role will be tasked with creating processes, workflows for the creation and distribution of all sports content for Disney+ and ESPN platforms in France and adhere to the Disney brand values as well as liaising between production companies, distributors and Disney’s and ESPN’s internal teams.
It is essential to have worked within a sports production team and the coordination of various Host broadcasting and Unilateral productions previously.
In addition, we will look for someone who is able to interact internally with multiple heads across different functions within the business as well as someone who has a deep understanding of sports and specifically football.
Responsibilities
Responsible for live sports production on ESPN on Disney+
Responsible for the team creating match highlights, clips and other VoD’s
Partnering with Programming, Scheduling & Planning department
Coordinate the sports coverage across ESPN in France and work together with editorial teams across EMEA and around the world
Create detailed content plans for matchday coverage of different sports events
Work together with Creative and Marketing teams to advise on sports-related artwork for Disney+ platforms across the region
Manages the relationship with production companies
Optimize promotion of Disney+ on ESPN platforms in France and creating content strategies that will lead to more awareness and leads to Disney+
Identify new opportunities to develop content on emerging platforms with potential audience and business growth
Partnering and working closely with all colleagues within ESPN Production EMEA to ensure optimized production
Managing negotiations with production companies and facilities companies within company standards and creative parameters
Coordination (communication and information flow) of production process between the production company, Finance, Creative, Production, Legal and Marketing to ensure clear communication and effective translation of vision to production on basis of creative greenlight.
Understands the roles and interdependencies of Marketing, Research, Legal, Business Affairs, etc. and develop the relationships within these departments to assure high quality and efficiency
Attend and present at Production, Development, Programming, Finance and Legal meetings
Job requirements
Experience in sports television production and host broadcasting for a minimum of 10 years
Thorough knowledge of the international sports world, specifically football
Fluent in English and French. Understanding additional languages is preferred.
Experience working with high-profile talent.
Excellent understanding of editing video
Excellent communication and editorial skills
Able to develop comprehensive matchday coverage plans and have them delivered promptly
Ability to inspire and enthuse producers and build strong collaboration with producers and with production studios worldwide
Ability to read, understand & consult on budgets
Understand production guidelines and talent agreements
Skills requirements
