Quality and Patient Safety Specialist – Obstetrics Full Time – Days – NYP Queens
In this pivotal role, you will serve as a trusted partner to clinical and operational teams, providing expertise in quality, patient safety, process improvement, and program administration. You will:
Consult with internal client groups to guide quality and patient safety initiatives
Develop, implement, and enhance programs that uphold the highest standards of patient care
Research, collect, and analyze internal and external data to inform decisions
Act as a subject matter expert in quality, patient safety, significant event management, and operational priorities aligned with NYP’s strategic goals
This position operates Monday–Friday (4 days per week; 7A - 5:15P) and is primarily based at NYP Queens in Flushing, NY . Travel may be required to multiple NYP Hospitals depending on assignment and to the Corporate office in Midtown Manhattan for departmental meetings and events.
Required Criteria
New York State RN License
Master of Science in Nursing required
BLS from American Heart Association
ACLS within 90 days of hire
NRP within 90 days of hire
Certification in Inpatient Obstetrical Nursing
NCC Certification in Fetal Monitoring
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience, of which at least 2 years are related to staff education.
Must have a working knowledge of Leopold Maneuvers and AWOHNN Standards
Must have a working knowledge of Triage, Labor Room, Operating Room and Recovery Room functions
Ability to interpret normal and abnormal fetal heart patterns
Advanced knowledge and skills in the recognition and management of obstetrical emergencies within a multidisciplinary care environment
