We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior CNC Programmer / CNC Setup to join our API team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC setup person who wants to transition into programming, as well as someone with technical school training or basic Mastercam knowledge who wants to build a career in CNC programming. You will work alongside experienced CNC programmers and machinists while learning to create and modify CNC programs using Mastercam for CNC lathes and mills. We are willing to train the right candidate. Strong CNC setup or machining experience can be just as valuable as previous programming experience.
A typical day:
- Create and modify CNC programs using Mastercam.
- Assist with programming basic machining operations.
- Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills as needed.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
- Assist with selecting cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies.
- Verify toolpaths and make program adjustments as needed.
- Work with machinists and experienced programmers to troubleshoot machining and programming issues.
- Assist with setup documentation, tooling sheets, and program organization.
- Follow company quality, safety, and production procedures.
The ideal candidate requires the following:
- Basic knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
- CNC setup experience is highly valued.
- Candidates with strong CNC setup skills who are looking to transition into CNC programming are encouraged to apply.
- Familiarity with Mastercam Lathe and/or Mill is preferred but not required.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
- Basic understanding of G-code, tooling, workholding, speeds, and feeds is helpful.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn.
- CNC machining experience, technical school training, or hands-on shop experience is preferred.
