Facilities Sustainability Coordinator

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Operations, the Sustainability Coordinator will have the responsibility of leading the University’s implementation of its Sustainability Action Plan; supporting existing sustainability efforts and enabling the development of new initiatives; and working with external partners in government, industry, and the community on sustainability-related initiatives.

Full Job Description:

  • Lead the implementation, refinement and assessment of the University’s Sustainability Action Plan.

  • Spearhead campus efforts to meet the University’s greenhouse gas emissions reductions commitments.

  • Support the One Earth Initiative Working Group with stakeholders from across the campus.

  • Work with stakeholders throughout the University to develop meaningful engagements with external stakeholders around issues of sustainability and environmental justice.

  • Implement programs to develop and enhance a culture of sustainability at USF.

  • Support marketing, communications, awareness, and engagement of the internal and external community through institutional updates, web and print portals, events and presentations.

  • Lead the development and maintenance of performance metrics to track program effectiveness, institutional benchmarking, and monitoring peer institution activities.

  • Coordinate assessment and reporting on all University efforts related to sustainability to campus leadership and external agencies such as ASSHE.

  • Other related responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. or B.A. in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies or a related field.A Master’s in Environmental Management, M.B.A., M.P.A. or similar professional degree is strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in the field of sustainability, preferably in Higher Education

  • Familiarity with greenhouse gas inventories and methodologies for estimating carbon footprints.

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus, work independently, manage projects and meet deadlines

  • Interpersonal skills including ability to develop effective relationships with diverse groups including faculty, staff, administrators, students and the community

  • Proficient knowledge of desktop software
