Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Pipefitter to join our commercial refrigeration team. The Pipefitter will be responsible for installing, assembling, brazing, modifying, repairing, and maintaining piping systems used in commercial refrigeration and mechanical applications. This position requires strong knowledge of refrigeration piping, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently on commercial job sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and assemble refrigeration piping systems, including suction, liquid, discharge, and hot-gas piping.
  • Measure, cut, fit, thread, and prepare pipe and fittings according to project specifications.
  • Braze copper and other refrigeration piping using proper procedures and materials.
  • Install pipe supports, hangers, valves, fittings, and related components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, piping diagrams, schematics, and equipment layouts.
  • Perform pressure testing, leak testing, evacuation, and preparation of piping systems as required.
  • Work closely with refrigeration technicians, electricians, project managers, and other trades.
  • Troubleshoot and repair existing refrigeration piping systems.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable mechanical/refrigeration codes.
  • Properly operate hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, brazing equipment, and other trade-related equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Travel to commercial job sites as required.

Qualifications

  • Previous pipefitting experience; commercial refrigeration experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial refrigeration piping systems and installation practices.
  • Proficiency in brazing copper refrigeration lines.
  • Ability to read blueprints, piping diagrams, and refrigeration schematics.
  • Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, and install piping.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to safely lift equipment and materials and work in various positions and environments.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or emergency service work when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with supermarket refrigeration, cold storage, industrial refrigeration, or large commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Refrigerant handling certification, such as EPA Section 608.
  • OSHA or other safety certifications.
  • Experience with steel, copper, stainless steel, or other piping materials.
  • Welding or additional mechanical trade experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from lifts or elevated platforms.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, and confined environments.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and work overhead for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and brazing equipment.
