Summary Statement:

The Director of Safety provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all safety, health, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and emergency preparedness programs across hotel, casino, entertainment, convention, food and beverage, retail, spa, and back-of-house operations.
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive safety culture that protects team members, guests, visitors, contractors, and company assets while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Director of Safety serves as the organization's primary subject matter expert for OSHA compliance, fire and life safety, incident prevention, regulatory reporting, emergency response, and workplace safety training.
The role collaborates closely with Operations, Facilities, Security, Human Resources, Risk Management, Engineering, Food & Beverage, Entertainment, Convention Services, and Emergency Management to proactively identify risks, reduce workplace injuries, and support operational excellence throughout the property.

 

Primary Job Duties: – Includes but is not limited to:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and professional development to safety team members and operational leaders.
  • Build collaborative partnerships across all departments.
  • Influence organizational decision-making through risk analysis and safety expertise.
  • Prepare executive reports and presentations regarding compliance, safety performance, and emerging risks.
  • Support capital projects, renovations, and operational changes through safety review and risk assessment processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive employee, legal, and regulatory matters.
  • Partner with Emergency Management and Security leadership to support:
    • Emergency preparedness planning
    • Crisis management programs
    • Business continuity initiatives
    • Incident response procedures
    • Emergency drills and exercises
  • Participate in organizational emergency response efforts and Incident Command activities.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness training and awareness programs.
  • Support large-scale events, entertainment venues, fireworks displays, and special operations requiring enhanced safety oversight.
  • Chair of the Safety Committee and related safety subcommittees.
  • Promote employee participation in safety initiatives and reporting programs.
  • Coordinate safety awareness campaigns and recognition programs.
  • Foster positive labor-management relationships related to workplace safety.
  • Support employee engagement, wellness, and community outreach initiatives that reinforce organizational values and safe practices.

    • Pool Operations
    • Spa and Fitness Facilities
    • Retail Operations
    • Engineering and Facilities
    • Warehouse and Logistics
    • Environmental Services
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify operational hazards.
  • Partner with department leaders to implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices across all operational areas.
  • Direct the administration of all safety-related training programs.
  • Develop and implement safety education initiatives for managers and employees.
  • Use personal device/cellular phone for job related operational tasks, job duties, review of company documents, etc.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.

Qualifications: – Includes but is not limited to:   

  • Experience managing OSHA compliance, workers' compensation, safety training, incident investigations, and regulatory inspections.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Ability to monitor corrective actions related to fire and life safety deficiencies.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred

  • Previous experience working in a large, luxury resort setting.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP).

Minimum Education and Experience:    

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of program experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience in hospitality, gaming, resort, casino, entertainment or large-scale commercial operations.

Certificates, Licenses, Regulations:        

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain the following:
    • Nevada Driver’s License
