At Sonesta, our General Managers are the heartbeat of the hotel — leading teams, shaping guest experiences, driving commercial success, and bringing our People People culture to life every single day. As the General Manager of a full-service hotel or resort, you’ll oversee all aspects of hotel operations while leading the property toward exceptional guest satisfaction, operational excellence, team engagement, and financial performance.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and enjoys balancing strategic leadership, guest experience, commercial performance, operational execution, and people development. You’ll lead cross-functional hotel operations including Rooms, Food & Beverage, Sales, Revenue, Events, Engineering, Spa, Recreation, and Finance while helping position the hotel as a leader within the market and community.

What you’ll be doing
What you’ll be doing
- Lead all aspects of hotel and resort operations including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Banquets, Sales, Revenue Management, Engineering, Spa, Recreation, Security, and guest services.
- Drive exceptional guest satisfaction, service culture, operational excellence, and luxury hospitality experiences across all departments.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and inspire hotel leadership teams and associates to support engagement, accountability, and performance excellence.
- Oversee hotel financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, labor management, operational expenses, profitability, and revenue growth initiatives.
- Partner closely with Sales, Revenue Management, Marketing, and Operations leaders to maximize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, market share, and commercial performance.
- Monitor operational KPIs, guest satisfaction scores, online reputation, service recovery opportunities, and business performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead strategic planning, operational execution, capital projects, renovations, owner relations, and long-term property performance initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, hotel operational procedures, OSHA regulations, food safety requirements, safety policies, and legal compliance standards.
- Represent the hotel and Sonesta brand within the local business community, hospitality industry events, ownership groups, and community partnerships.
- Support group business, conferences, weddings, VIP experiences, resort programming, and special events to ensure seamless execution and guest satisfaction.
- Create a positive, collaborative, and high-performing culture aligned with Sonesta’s People People philosophy and leadership expectations.
- Lead emergency response efforts, crisis management, operational recovery planning, and business continuity initiatives as needed.

What great looks like
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive hotel leadership, resort operations, hospitality management, or executive hotel operations experience preferred.
- Previous General Manager, Resort Manager, Hotel Manager, Director of Operations, or senior hospitality leadership experience within a full-service hotel or resort preferred.
- Strong knowledge of hotel operations, luxury hospitality, Food & Beverage, guest experience, sales strategy, revenue management, labor management, and operational performance.
- Proven experience managing hotel budgets, forecasting, profitability, operational KPIs, guest satisfaction metrics, and commercial performance initiatives.
- Excellent leadership, communication, relationship-building, financial, and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to lead large, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced hospitality or resort environment.
- Strong operational mindset with the ability to balance guest experience, team culture, and financial performance effectively.
- Experience using PMS systems, hotel operational systems, revenue platforms, reporting tools, and hospitality technology preferred.
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call operational support as needed.
- A passion for hospitality, leadership, operational excellence, guest engagement, and creating exceptional hotel and resort experiences.
