What you will be doing
JOB DESCRIPTION
· Clinic setting
o Prepare patient charts
o Collect patient history
o Physician order entry by protocol
o Prepare physician orders for signature
o Performing clinical procedures to include:
Performing aseptic procedures
Taking vital signs
Preparing patients for the physician’s care
Performing venipunctures and nonintravenous injections
Observing and reporting patients’ signs or symptoms
o Assisting with patient examinations or treatments
o Brace fitting, casting, splinting
o Gait training
o DME and exercise training
o Creates individualized exercise and rehab programs
o Coordinates patient appointments and other ancillary tests
o Assist with coordinating testing, physical therapy and physician referrals, medication prescriptions, and follow up visits as recommended by the physician
o Documents all patient interactions in the electronic health record
o Act as a liaison between physician, clinical support, and administrative staff to promote effective and efficient patient care
o Serves as medical scribe to the physician
· Athletic & Community Events
o Serving as medical staff under the supervision of an MD in the routine prevention and treatment of medical injuries as well as providing first aid and emergent care
o Sports Physicals
· Community Outreach
o Performing healthcare screenings
o Community education
· As needed
o Supports clinic efficiency by assisting in other areas such as:
- Administrative tasks (making appointments, scanning records, coordinating care with outside providers, obtaining prior authorizations, etc.)
o Development of procedures and protocols
o Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-accredited program
- Current Florida Athletic Trainer License
- Current BOC Certification
- Current BLS/CPR & AED Certification
- Successful completion of Florida-required fingerprinting and background screening
SKILLS PREFERRED
Experience in orthopedic or sports medicine practice - EMR/Epic experience
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish)
