Description
Who We Are
Griffon Aerospace designs, builds, and flies unmanned aerial systems that perform. We are a focused team of engineers and operators who care about mission success before satisfying any other "metrics." We don't hand work off and walk away. We own it. Our culture is defined by technical rigor, follow-through, and refusal to accept "good enough."
The Role
We're looking for a Capture Manager who has demonstrated success in identifying and winning Department of War contract opportunities that align with our business products and objectives. You'll work directly under our VP of Programs and lead the capture process for Griffon's proposals and growth opportunities. The Capture Manager will find, qualify, and build response strategies on open or soon to release bid opportunities. You will lead the proposal team consisting of engineering, business, and corporate stakeholders through the proposal writing process with a clear but agile plan. You will not just create the plan; however, you must also own the execution and be an authoring SME in the response documents.
You should know your way around the Department of War acquisition process, understand what it takes to shape a compliant response and build a teaming strategy before an RFP ever drops. You should have a demonstrated history of running color team reviews and briefing a program executive office.
Key Responsibilities
Own the Capture
– Qualify and prioritize opportunities against Griffon's strategy, resources, and realistic probability of winning.
– Build and drive the capture plan that covers customer engagement, competitive assessment, teaming strategy, and win themes.
– Own the black hat/competitive analysis and shape win strategy around Griffon's real technical and past-performance discriminators.
– Brief capture status, gate reviews, and bid/no-bid recommendations to leadership with a clear-eyed view of probability of winning.
Lead the Proposal
– Lead proposal development end-to-end: outline, compliance matrix, writing assignments, and schedule, holding the team to the RFP requirements and the win strategy.
– Write and edit proposal content yourself where it matters most: executive summaries, technical volumes, and past performance. We are not looking for a spreadsheet manager.
– Run color team reviews (pink, red, gold) and drive substantive rewrites based on findings, not just cosmetic edits.
– Coordinate pricing, contracts, and teaming inputs into a single, compliant, compelling proposal delivered on time.
Build the Pipeline
– Develop and maintain relationships with government program offices, primes, and teammates relevant to Griffon's target markets.
– Represent Griffon at industry days, conferences, and customer engagements, translating what you hear into actionable capture activity.
– Partner with engineering and corporate leadership ahead of RFP release.
Report to the VP of Programs
– Provide direct visibility into capture status and proposal outcomes to the VP of Programs and executive leadership.
– Track win/loss results and drive lessons-learned back into the capture process so Griffon gets better at this every cycle.
What We're Looking For
Required
– Bachelor's degree; relevant capture or proposal certifications (e.g., APMP, Shipley) are a plus, but your track record matters more.
– 7+ years in defense capture management or business development, with a demonstrated history of writing and leading winning proposal efforts within the Department of War acquisition system.
– Direct experience running the full capture lifecycle: opportunity qualification, black hat sessions, teaming, proposal development, and color team reviews.
– Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Department of War source selection processes.
– Strong writing skills. Demonstrate that you can produce compelling proposal content yourself, not just manage people who do.
– U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Strongly Preferred
– Active security clearance.
– Established relationships within relevant program executive offices (e.g., PEO Aviation, Missiles & Space, AvMC, SOCOM) or primes in the UAS market.
– Experience capturing and winning UAS, launched effects, or precision-guided munitions programs.
– APMP or Shipley capture/proposal management certification.
The Kind of Person Who Thrives Here
|
You show up. When something is broken in the field, you're on a plane. You don't manage from behind a screen. You don't quit. Problems are resolved, not deferred. You find a way or you make one. |
You own the outcome but share the glory. The whole thing. If the program is late, that's yours. If it delivers, the team is praised not just you. You communicate first. Plans, issues, and new data travel fast here. |
