Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Psychiatric Assessment & Care Planning: Conduct thorough physical, psychosocial, cultural, and age-specific assessments; establish nursing diagnoses and implement individualized plans of care.
- Therapeutic Milieu & Group Participation: Maintain a safe, structured therapeutic milieu on the unit; attend patient group activities and actively contribute to interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
- Medication & Treatment Administration: Administer psychiatric and medical medications, manage pain, perform wound care, and operate biomedical equipment, infusion pumps, and monitors.
- Crisis De-escalation & Emergency Response: Effectively manage patient behavioral crises, psychiatric emergencies, and physical health changes using approved de-escalation techniques (CPI).
- Patient & Family Education: Teach patients and caregivers about mental health diagnoses, medication management, illness prevention, and wellness promotion.
- Clinical Documentation & Delegation: Accurately document assessments, interventions, and care plans in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR); supervise and direct unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs/Techs).
- Clinical Experience: Minimum of 1+ years of dedicated inpatient psychiatric nursing experience [Required].
- Hospital Experience: Recent hospital-based experience within the last 5 years [Required].
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) License [Required].
- Certifications:
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) [Required].
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certification [Required].
- Core Skills: Proficiency in crisis intervention, strong critical thinking, effective communication, and adaptability in a dynamic behavioral health environment.
