About This Role:
Axsome Therapeutics is seeking an Associate Director, HEOR Analytics. This is a hands-on, technical role responsible for designing and executing real-world evidence (RWE) analyses using large-scale healthcare datasets, including administrative claims, electronic health records (EHR/EMR), and other real-world data sources. This role combines advanced statistical programming, study design, and analytical expertise to generate rigorous evidence supporting evidence generation priorities.
The individual will lead the development of study protocols, statistical analysis plans, and study reports in partnership with the HEOR Lead & Medical Strategy colleagues, oversee programming and execution of analyses inclusive of quality control procedures, and deliver high-quality evidence to inform value demonstration, payer engagement, and scientific publications.
This role is based at Axsome’s HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles.
Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Lead development of analytical strategies supporting HEOR, Medical Affairs, and market access evidence generation
- Design appropriate methodologies including traditional statistical approaches and advanced analytics (e.g., survival analysis, comparative effectiveness, treatment patterns, healthcare resource utilization, machine learning where appropriate)
- Apply epidemiologic and statistical methodologies to address bias, confounding, and missing data in real-world datasets
- Contribute to protocol development, database specifications, and statistical analysis plans
- Ensure methodological rigor, reproducibility, and compliance with regulatory and industry standards
- Perform and oversee statistical programming and analysis using SAS, R, Python, and SQL
- Develop and validate analysis-ready datasets and analytic workflows from raw healthcare data sources
- Lead cohort identification using clinical coding systems (e.g., ICD, CPT, NDC)
- Support data acquisition strategy by identifying appropriate claims, EHR, and other real-world data sources
- Partner with IT and Commercial Operations on real world database ingestion into Axsome data ecosystem
- Translate analytical results into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders via graphics, slides, and dashboards as appropriate
- Contribute to development of, abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts
- Support development of payer evidence and value dossiers
- Present findings to internal and external stakeholders including scientific meetings
- Partner with HEOR strategy leads and Medical Affairs teams, as well as Commercial and Market Access analytics as appropriate
- Translate business needs into analytical solutions
- Manage and oversee external vendors and CROs conducting HEOR/RWE analyses
- Serve as a technical leader in HEOR analytics and promote best practices
- Stay current with evolving RWE methodologies and analytics tools
- Contribute to continuous improvement of HEOR analytics processes and standards
Requirements / Qualifications
- PhD or Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Economics, Data Science, or related quantitative field
- 5+ years of experience conducting analyses using real-world healthcare data (claims, EHR/EMR, registries)
- Ability to work on site Monday, Tuesday & Thursday. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles
Experience and Knowledge
- Experience designing and executing observational and retrospective studies
- Track record of generating real-world evidence to support publications or market access
- Strong programming skills in SAS, R, Python, and/or SQL
- Expertise in statistical methods (e.g., regression, survival analysis, causal inference)
- Hands-on experience with large healthcare databases and data structures
- Experience with cohort construction and data transformation
Salary & Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this role is $175,000 - $195,000. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
