Work Transfer Specialist
Ontic is a leading global aerospace OEM trusted by the world’s aviation leaders. With over 1,300 employees across four time zones and seven sites, we have more than doubled in size since 2019 and continue to grow at pace.
Our team is looking for a Work Transfer Specialist to join them. This position may be based at one of our U.S. sites in North Carolina, California, New York, or Florida, or may be considered for a remote work structure from an Ontic-approved registered state.
For remote consideration, candidates must currently reside in one of the following approved states: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Wyoming. Candidates located outside of these states will not be considered for a remote work structure at this time.
The Work Transfer Specialist supports the planning and execution of strategic supplier and manufacturing work transfer initiatives across the business. Reporting to the Commodity Workstream Leaders, you will manage supplier-to-supplier and supplier site-to-site transfers from initial planning through production stabilization.
Working in a highly cross-functional environment, you will partner with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Program Management, Procurement, and suppliers to ensure transfers are executed successfully while maintaining continuity of supply and minimizing disruption to operations and customers.
This is a project-driven and execution-focused role with responsibility for coordinating transfer planning, qualification, risk mitigation, production readiness, and implementation while ensuring cost, quality, delivery, and customer requirements are achieved.
To be considered for the Work Transfer Specialist opening, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
- 3 to 7 years of experience in project management, supply chain, manufacturing engineering, sourcing, industrialization, work transfer, or a related manufacturing environment. Aerospace and Defense experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional projects involving suppliers, Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain organizations.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, industrialization, and supplier qualification activities.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, bills of material, and manufacturing documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify project risks and develop effective mitigation and recovery plans.
- Experience tracking project schedules, milestones, key performance indicators, and status reporting.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and project management tools used to manage schedules, inventory, and implementation activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with Power BI or similar analytical and reporting tools preferred.
- Knowledge of configuration management, document control, and change management processes.
- Understanding of AS9100 quality systems and applicable Aerospace and Defense regulatory requirements, including ITAR/EAR.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and coordinate stakeholders across a global matrix organization.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 30%.

As a Work Transfer Specialist, you will:
- Lead assigned work transfer projects from initiation through qualification, implementation, and production stabilization.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, milestones, deliverables, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate supplier-to-supplier and supplier site-to-site manufacturing transfers while maintaining continuity of supply and minimizing operational and customer disruption.
- Serve as the primary cross-functional coordinator between Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, Procurement, and external suppliers throughout the transfer lifecycle.
- Manage project timelines and drive accountability across stakeholders to ensure key deliverables and implementation milestones are achieved.
- Coordinate transfer readiness activities, including technical data package reviews, tooling and equipment transfers, inventory planning, supplier readiness, qualification activities, and production ramp-up.
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI), validation, and other qualification activities required to achieve production approval.
- Partner with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure technical, configuration, documentation, and quality requirements are successfully transferred and implemented.
- Identify and proactively mitigate risks that could impact schedule, cost, quality, delivery, or customer commitments.
- Monitor project performance and provide clear status updates on milestones, risks, issues, recovery actions, and overall transfer readiness to leadership and key stakeholders.
- Ensure transfer activities comply with applicable customer requirements, regulatory obligations, and Quality Management System standards.
- Support production stabilization following implementation and coordinate resolution of issues identified during ramp-up.
- Capture lessons learned and support the continuous improvement of work transfer processes, tools, and governance.
- Travel to supplier and Ontic locations as required to support transfer planning, qualification, implementation, and production readiness activities.
