Registered Nurse-Interventional Radiology (Full Time, Days)

The Registered Nurse, Interventional Radiology delivers nursing care for patients across their life span, and through the nursing process, assesses, plans, implements, and documents the effects of care. Works cooperatively with ancillary, nursing and other patient-team personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. These nursing functions of the RN are carried out according to the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act, hospital policy, the hospital Mission Statement, and the Philosophy of the Department of Nursing.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Completes pre-admission consultations for invasive, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including assessing patient knowledge. Provides appropriate patient education and literature, obtains and documents pre-admission testing form patient for procedure

• Assess and monitors patient procedures , documenting patient information in a clear and concise manner describing chronological sequence of events according to a accepted and policies and procedures

• Responsible for record keeping of controlled substances during procedures and follows protocol regarding storage of such substances

• Assist physicians with orders and physical assessment of patient and documents assessments

• Responds appropriately to department emergency situations, delegating as needed

• Provides report to receiving unit regarding pertinent patient information and post procedure orders

• Documents all follow up phone calls to outpatients

• Organizes, coordinates and prioritizes patient care consistently utilizing available resources

• Functions as a professional role model and resource person providing guidance to co-workers

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting for a total of 2 hours per day, up to 1 hour increments. Standing for a total of 6 hours per day, up to 1 hour increments. Walking up to 4 hours per day at 10 minute intervals. Frequent fingering and grasping, continuous handling and frequent twisting and turning. Occasional lifting objects up to 50 pounds and rarely lifting up to 100 pounds. Occasionally pushing/pulling up to 400 pounds. Occasionally stooping/bending, crouching and kneeling. Rarely squatting, crawling and climbing and frequently reaching above shoulder level. Touching as it relates to feeling. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation, hi ad low frequencies. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and visual monotony.

EDUCATION:

Registered Nurse with license to practice in the State of New Jersey or Pennsylvania, depending on work location. .

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Customized orientation to the department. Current CPR certification required by completion of orientation. Ability to monitor and administer IV medications. ACLS certification required by completion of orientation. Prior computer usage required.
