Description
As a Senior Agronomist, you will be responsible for working closely towards introduction of economically, environmentally & socially sustainable production practices in the field. The position will be responsible for effectively disseminating these best agronomic practices among other integrated growers by using efficient communication systems and technologies.
This role report to Manager Maize Production.
What you will do:
- General Duties – Developing strong business relationships with contract growers to maximize value for the company, providing accurate crop estimates to management regarding crop size and volume, working scientifically to produce high-quality crops consistently across diversified environments, and ensuring compliance with applicable rules, regulations, risk management policies, and contractual agreements.
- Environment, Health & Safety – Comply with the rules set by the ESH Committee and ensure that all the ESH guidelines are duly abided.
- Agility & Innovation – Coordinate with his Manager in the development of best-in-clause agronomic production practices that will optimize yield and quality, reduce costs, improve crop and soil health and maximize water and fertilize use efficiency.
- Relationship & People – Possessing expert knowledge to quickly identify crop production challenges and provide effective alternative solutions, while offering technical guidance and planning support to growers, as well as educating farmers on safe field operations and the efficient conservation of resources.
What you will bring:
- 5-8 years’ experience required in the field of agriculture preferably development of Maize.
- B. Sc. Preferably Master’s Degree in Agriculture.
- Expert knowledge of soil and plant nutrition, plant physiology, water management practices, pest management and crop cultural management. A great grasp on corn storage knowledge, practices and operations.
- The ability to give growers advise on crop management decision and agricultural best practices.
- Proficient in computer skills - Microsoft Office software, email, internet, spread sheets.
- The ability to analyze result of investigations to determine measures needed to maintain, restore and improve proper crop management.
- Fluent in writing and speaking English and Urdu.
