At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll do meaningful work every day while helping to advance science and improve lives around the world. Our Mission is to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer—and the work you do as a Materials Planner directly supports the production of products that help researchers, healthcare providers, and pharmaceutical companies make important scientific breakthroughs.

When you join our Grand Island team, you'll become part of a collaborative, high-performing manufacturing environment where your ideas are valued, your career growth is supported, and your contributions have a global impact.

What You'll Do

As a Materials Planner II, you'll help ensure the right materials are available at the right time to support manufacturing operations and meet customer demand. You'll partner with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to optimize inventory, resolve material shortages, and continuously improve planning processes.

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor supply plans and evaluate changes that impact material requirements and production schedules.
  • Generate purchase orders for approved purchase requisitions and raw materials based on MRP requirements.
  • Review inventory levels and proactively identify potential shortages or supply risks.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and suppliers to resolve purchasing issues and maintain material availability.
  • Analyze planning and inventory data to improve forecast accuracy and inventory performance.
  • Support production by balancing inventory investment with customer service and operational goals.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen planning processes and supply chain performance.
  • Maintain accurate planning data within ERP/MRP systems while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in materials planning, production planning, supply chain, purchasing, or a related manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar platforms.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Understanding of inventory management, demand planning, and supply chain best practices.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing environments using MPS, DRP, or S&OP processes.
  • Knowledge of Lean, continuous improvement, or process optimization methodologies.
  • Familiarity with FDA, cGMP, ISO, or other regulated manufacturing environments is a plus.

Why Thermo Fisher Scientific?

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, your work has purpose. You'll join a global organization known for innovation, collaboration, and career development, where you'll have opportunities to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact.

If you're ready to build your supply chain career while helping improve health and advancing science around the world, we'd love to hear from you.
