Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Clinical Program Manager leads a team of nurses that provide training and education to all clinical teammates that work within the Roper St. Francis Physician Partners Practices as well as the internal CMA apprenticeship program.  . This position is responsible for facilitating the planning, implementation and evaluation of education activities to other clinical support staff within the Roper St. Francis Physician Partner practices. The Clinical Program Manager must follow established standards and practices in accordance with the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act (RN) to provide patient care.

This position will have direct reports.

This position is responsible for managing the Lead RN’s within Physician partners as well as the rotating class of CMA apprentice students and PRN instructor teammates.

Essential Job Functions

1.Staff Education and Development - Assesses developmental needs of staff. Sets Direction and drives the performance of goals; implements plans to address identified needs. Evaluates effectiveness of developmental strategies to insure competency-based practice and critical thinking. Develops effective staff education to meet individual and organizational needs; using adult learning principles to teach and coach staff. Evaluates effectiveness of educational interventions and revises programs accordingly.

2. Leads the instructional team and makes key decisions about our inhouse CMA Apprenticeship Program - 15 weeks classroom education & 6-8 clinical rotation. (average class size 6-12) teaches a 4 day long training for all RSFPP newly hired clinical teammates every other week (average class size is 4-18)

3. Sets the direction and strategic plans to provide orientation and training of new  clinical teammates that align with the organizational goals

4.Manages training and education activities to ensure they meet changes in compliance and/or regulatory requirements, core measures, patient safety and quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes. Maintains a safe working environment for all customers and teammates.

5. Focuses on Priorities.  Manages resources effectively to meet goals. Prioritizes and identifies critical responsibilities and activities. Understands facility & system objectives and priorities; links goals to strategic objectives and targeted benchmarks.

6. Coach and mentor clinical staff, educators, and managers within Roper St. Francis Physician Partners

7. Identifies and responds appropriately to ethical issues in patient care.  Acts as a resource to others in addressing ethical dilemmas in patient care. Serves as a resource to others in addressing ethical issues in patient care. Acts as a patient advocate.

8. Demonstrates clinical competencies in specific area of practice as described in departmental performance standards.

9. Provides nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights. Identifies resources to meet unique patient needs. Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required.

Licensing/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multistate license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State and is not a permanent resident of SC. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

Education: Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing required. BSN preferred.

Work Experience

Minimum of 2 years experience as a Registered Nurse.  Physician practice experience in support of direct patient care preferred.

Preferred 2-5 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
