09/23/2026Ovintiv Canada is seeking a Tax Co-op Student to support the Canadian Tax team on an 8-month term. This role will focus on supporting the team's compliance and provision work, providing exposure to the core processes and reporting cycles of a corporate tax function. The successful candidate will bring a genuine interest in learning more about tax, a keen eye for technology and ways to automate processes, and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams. This role is well-suited to someone who is eager to learn, driven to find new ways to improve processes, and excited to collaborate with colleagues across teams such as treasury, corporate accounting, financial reporting, and operations accounting.
This position will be based in our Calgary office and is available for an 8-month term starting in January 2027.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly tax provisions.
- Prepare tax working papers, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and file Canadian corporate and partnership income tax returns.
- Assist with tax audits by compiling requested information and maintaining organized supporting documentation.
- Identify process automation opportunities and implement technology solutions. Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work process.
- Assist with tax research, data analysis, and other ad hoc tax projects as assigned.
- Collaborate with cross-functional finance and accounting teams to support broader business objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness throughout each task.
- Coachable and open to feedback, with a genuine drive for continuous improvement.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic, comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate clearly and professionally across various levels and teams within the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with a willingness to learn new tools and systems as needed.
- Enrolled in a post-secondary co-op program.
- Currently in second or third year of Accounting. Preference will be given to students working towards completion of prerequisites for admission into the CPA program after graduation.
- Experience with data analytics or automation tools is considered an asset.

Hiring Hourly Range: $22.81-$31.59 CAD
Compensation may vary and will be determined by year in school and placement location.
