Description
Take ownership of complex accounting work - and help us improve how we do it.
At Kitware, we're looking for an experienced accounting professional who wants to do more than maintain the books. As our Senior Accountant, you'll play an important role in maintaining financial accuracy and regulatory compliance while helping us strengthen the processes and policies that support a growing R&D software company.
This role offers a mix of hands-on accounting, multi-state tax compliance, technical research, and process improvement. You'll have the independence to research complex accounting and tax issues, recommend solutions, and turn evolving requirements into practical processes that work for the business.
You'll also develop a broader understanding of Kitware's finance operations, giving you the opportunity to collaborate across functions and contribute beyond your primary responsibilities.
What You'll Do
In this position, you'll:
-
Perform monthly account reconciliations and support timely, accurate financial reporting.
-
Prepare and file state and local tax filings, including sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, and other indirect taxes across multiple jurisdictions - currently 28 states.
-
Conduct technical accounting and tax research to ensure compliance with evolving state regulations and government requirements.
-
Draft, review, and update accounting policies and procedures to align with GAAP and applicable government regulations.
-
Develop a strong understanding of adjacent finance functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Customer Cost Proposals.
-
Identify and recommend opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency.
-
Provide backup support across finance functions during peak periods, absences, or other business needs.
-
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure financial controls and policies are applied consistently.
-
Translate regulatory and technical requirements into clear, actionable internal processes.
