THE JOB
Live Nation Entertainment is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Project Director to lead the delivery of major venue projects across our West Coast portfolio. This role carries direct, end-to-end responsibility for the planning and execution of select large-scale venue development, construction, and renovation projects — from concept through completion — while also providing regional oversight to ensure consistency, accountability, and disciplined execution across the western United States. The Senior Project Director serves as the senior point of leadership for West Coast projects, strengthening executive visibility, risk management, and decision-making.
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
Major Project Delivery:
- Take direct ownership of assigned major venue projects, with hands-on responsibility for delivery from concept through completion.
- Lead planning, design coordination, and construction execution, driving day-to-day decisions on scope, phasing, budget, and schedule.
- Guide scope definition, phasing strategies, and delivery approaches across multiple concurrent projects.
- Deliver projects on time and on budget while balancing operational, seasonal, and financial constraints.
West Coast Portfolio Leadership:
- Provide centralized leadership and accountability for West Coast venue development, construction, and renovation projects.
- Establish consistent delivery standards, governance, processes, and reporting across the region.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for complex, high-risk, or high-visibility initiatives.
Executive Oversight & Reporting:
- Deliver concise, project- and portfolio-level updates on schedule, cost, risk, and delivery status to senior leadership.
- Elevate critical issues early and support executive decision-making with clear, actionable analysis.
- Establish KPIs, reporting cadence, and decision rights, ensuring regional priorities align with broader corporate objectives.
Financial & Commercial Leadership:
- Maintain executive ownership of project budgets and forecasts for assigned major projects and the broader West Coast portfolio.
- Review and present consolidated cost reporting, financial performance, and risk exposure to upper management.
- Drive cost discipline while protecting quality, safety, and schedule outcomes.
Schedule & Resource Management:
- Own project schedules for assigned major projects and provide oversight of regional schedules and resourcing strategies.
- Ensure project timelines are realistic, coordinated, and aligned with venue operations.
- Lead recovery planning and resolution of schedule conflicts.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor Project Managers and senior project staff across the West Coast.
- Establish accountability, role clarity, and consistent application of best practices.
- Foster collaboration across design, construction, operations, and executive teams.
Contractor, Vendor & Pre-Development Support:
- Provide senior oversight of key consultants, contractors, and vendor relationships, including procurement of major project packages.
- Support contract strategy, negotiations, and performance management.
- Assist in pre-development lease negotiations, providing constructability, cost, schedule, and risk input to support informed deal-making.
Risk, Quality, Safety & Compliance:
- Implement risk management processes to identify, mitigate, and monitor risks at the project and portfolio level.
- Uphold high quality and safety standards throughout all stages of project execution.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, permitting and entitlement requirements, safety protocols, and company policies across multiple jurisdictions.
WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience delivering construction and development projects, including 5+ years leading large-scale projects; entertainment, live-venue, or hospitality experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated track record personally delivering major construction or venue projects on time and on budget.
- Proven success leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams of Project Managers and cross-functional project staff.
- Executive-level experience owning budgets and forecasts and presenting consolidated cost, performance, and risk reporting to senior leadership.
- Expertise in scheduling and project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and Procore.
- Strong background in contract strategy, negotiations, procurement, and vendor performance management.
- Working knowledge of building codes, permitting, entitlements, and safety regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead multiple concurrent projects.
- Willingness to travel regularly to venues and project sites across the West Coast.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification is a plus.
