The Role
The Compute Systems Software team is a dynamic and fast-paced team that designs, develops, and maintains the foundational embedded software platform for SDV solutions, including drivers, operating systems, BSPs, and software stacks. We are developing a world-class GM experience for our customers and driving real change at one of the most iconic automakers on the planet. Our team delivers platform solutions for high-end SoCs that enable infotainment, ADAS, and other high-compute applications. The Display Software team is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to work on display solutions for high-compute System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in embedded systems design and development, particularly with Linux-based display systems, device drivers, and display hardware. The candidate will work with engineering teams across software services, hardware teams, and SoC vendors to build and manage a shared vehicle compute platform.

What You’ll Do

• Develop embedded software and device drivers for automotive display systems.
• Develop software features on Linux to control the powering, configuration, and activation of display devices and processes.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and integration.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and system architects, to ensure seamless integration of display software with hardware.
• Collaborate with other engineers to optimize performance, memory usage, startup time, and power efficiency for high-performance embedded systems.
• Contribute to the development of production-quality software by applying best practices for embedded software development in automotive and other safety-critical domains.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

• 5+ years of experience in embedded software development.
• Experience with Linux-based embedded operating systems.
• Experience developing or integrating display software, device drivers, or display hardware.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Solid understanding of embedded hardware architectures, including processors, memory management, and peripherals.
• Knowledge of communication protocols, including Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
• Solid understanding of Linux kernel frameworks, including DRM/KMS, DMA, V4L2, and device trees.
• Experience deploying commercial embedded systems.
• Familiarity with ARM architectures.
• Experience with bring-up, validation, and system-level testing of SoCs and display hardware.
• Experience working with display interfaces such as DisplayPort, HDMI, or MIPI DSI is preferred.
• Experience in automotive or safety-critical software development is preferred.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent.
Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent preferred.

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis. Relocation benefits are available for candidates who qualify under company policy.
