We are seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgist to drive product quality, process optimization, and technical innovation within our metal manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Failure Analysis & Defect Reduction: Direct root-cause investigations into internal and surface defects. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to improve mill yields.
• Quality Assurance & Testing Oversight: Lead the metallurgical laboratory in mechanical testing and microstructural evaluations.
• New Product Development (NPD): Collaborate with R&D and operations to design new alloy chemistry windows and process routes for high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steels, advanced high-strength steels (AHSS), or specialty grades.
• Customer Technical Service & Audits: Serve as the primary technical contact for major industrial clients. Resolve technical claims, manage specification exceptions, and host customer and third-party quality audits.
• Continuous Improvement & Mentorship: Lead Lean/Six Sigma projects to reduce scrap and off-grade production while mentoring junior engineers and lab technicians in physical and chemical metallurgy principles.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: B.S. or M.S. in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or other Engineering field with a heavy metallurgy emphasis.
• Experience: 8+ years of progressive metallurgical engineering experience.
• Technical Expertise:
• Practical expertise in metallographic analysis, non-metallic inclusion characterization, and mechanical failure analysis.

• Base Salary: $130,000 - $160,000
