Clinical Nurse - Perioperative

St John of God Geraldton Hospital opened in 1992, our acute care facility provides comprehensive health care services in a relaxed and pleasant environment. Our hospital offers exceptional private care in the Mid-West, without the need to travel to Perth, so you can receive your care closer to home.

Our 60-bed hospital features modern operating theatres, a Day Procedure Unit and medical, surgical and maternity wards. We also offer compassionate inpatient palliative care to the region. 

Our services include general medicine, orthopaedic surgery, maternity care, general surgery and palliative care.

About the role

We are seeking experienced Clinical Nurses to join our friendly and supportive perioperative team.

As a valued member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering a high standard of patient care in a safe, effective and compassionate manner.

We encourage experienced Registered Nurses to apply, with experience in the following areas highly regarded:

• Perioperative specialities - Orthopaedic scrub scout experience highly desirable
• Anaesthetics/PACU experience

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a high standard of patient care utilising appropriate resources cost effectively.
• Adhere to and supports hospital policies, procedures and standards.
• Act as the patient’s advocate and facilitate the rights of individuals.
• Provide patient education and acts as a resource where appropriate.
• Participate in a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care through the continuum of care.
• Prioritise workload using resources effectively.
• Provide supervision to Enrolled Nurses, students and PCAs as required
• Supervise clinical practice of all caregivers taking responsibility for standard of care delivered.
• Initiate reviews and coordinate care of patients with complex health problems.
• Serves as a patient advocate, protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times.
• Responsible and accountable for nominated portfolios as designated by Nurse Unit Manager and actively communicate with Nurse Unit Manager regarding updates

Your skills and experience

You will have a registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, a demonstrated commitment to quality patient care and satisfaction, along with well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.

To succeed you will have an ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the multi-disciplinary health care team, with a commitment to ongoing education and professional development.  You will demonstrate advance clinical skills, with a minimum 2 years' experience suitable to a perioperative speciality and must be available to work on-call and flexible shifts.

• Salary: $109,599 to $115,681 per annum (pro rata for part time) plus 12% superannuation
