At BDO, we believe that knowledge is meant to be shared. That’s why we are looking for a Customs Trainer to strengthen our Tax & Legal team and help our clients stay ahead in an increasingly complex customs environment.

Are you passionate about customs and enjoy translating complex legislation into clear, practical and engaging training? Do you like working with different clients, sharing your expertise and continuously developing your own knowledge? Then this could be the opportunity for you!

At BDO, you will become part of a close-knit team where your expertise matters, your ideas are valued and you have the opportunity to grow. Let’s Grow Together!

What will you be doing?

What will you do?

As a Customs Trainer, you will play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality customs training for our clients and internal teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and delivering practical and engaging customs training sessions for clients, colleagues and other stakeholders, both on our e-learning platform and in the form of physical sessions.
  • Translating complex customs legislation, regulations and developments into clear, accessible and business-oriented training content.
  • Preparing training materials, presentations, case studies, exercises and other learning tools tailored to the needs of different target audiences.
  • Keeping training content up to date with the latest developments in EU and Belgian customs legislation, procedures and case law.
  • Identifying relevant customs developments and translating them into practical insights for our clients.
  • Working closely with our customs specialists and Tax & Legal colleagues to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training content.
  • Supporting clients in strengthening their internal customs knowledge and compliance processes through targeted training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Contributing to the further development of BDO's customs training offering, identifying new topics and opportunities based on market developments and client needs.
  • Participating in client meetings and discussions to understand their specific customs challenges and translate these into appropriate training solutions.
  • Building trusted relationships with clients and becoming a recognised point of contact for customs-related knowledge and training.
  • Sharing your knowledge internally and contributing to the continuous development of our customs team.

Depending on your experience and interests, you may also have the opportunity to contribute to customs advisory projects and support clients with more complex customs matters.

What do you bring to the table?

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a customs professional who combines technical expertise with strong communication and presentation skills.

You have:

  • A strong knowledge of customs legislation and customs procedures, preferably within a Belgian and/or European context.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in customs, for example within a consultancy firm, customs department, logistics company, multinational organisation or public authority.
  • A genuine interest in training, knowledge sharing and developing people.
  • The ability to explain complex technical topics in a clear, structured and engaging way.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the confidence to address both technical specialists and non-specialist audiences.
  • A pragmatic and client-oriented mindset, with the ability to adapt your approach to different industries and levels of expertise.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage several training projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • A proactive attitude and the drive to continuously develop your own expertise.
  • Strong written and spoken English and Dutch. Knowledge of French is not required but is a nice bonus.
  • A creative all-rounder with strong PowerPoint skills.

Most importantly, you are someone who enjoys sharing knowledge, connecting with people and making complex matters easier to understand.
