As a Staff Data Engineer at BP PLC, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining scalable and robust data pipelines and systems. You will play a key role in enabling data-driven decisions across the organization by ensuring high-quality, accessible, and reliable data infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize complex data models, databases, and data warehousing solutions, including relational data modeling.
Implement and manage continuous deployment and release pipelines for data solutions, adhering to Agility core practices.
Develop and maintain robust data ingestion, transformation, and processing scripts.
Ensure the security and integrity of data systems, adhering to Information Security best practices.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and software engineers, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
Contribute to system design and architecture discussions, focusing on scalability, performance, and resilience.
Manage configuration and source control for data infrastructure and code, utilizing appropriate tools and processes.
Facilitate technical discussions and mentor junior team members, fostering a high-performing team environment.
Drive improvements in service operations and resilience for data platforms.
Apply digital project management principles to deliver data initiatives efficiently.
Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
Job Qualifications
Proven experience in Database Design and Relational Data Modelling.
Strong proficiency in Scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL).
Demonstrated experience with Continuous deployment and release processes.
Expertise in Source control and code management (e.g., Git).
Solid understanding of System Design principles for scalable data solutions.
Experience with Configuration management and related tools.
Knowledge of Information Security best practices in a data context.
Ability to apply Agility core practices in data engineering workflows.
Excellent Collaboration and Communication skills.
Experience in Creating a high performing team and Facilitation.
Familiarity with Digital Project Management methodologies.
Understanding of Service operations and resilience for data platforms.
