Job Summary:

The Wildlife Guide Supervisor supports the Camp Manager and Assistant Camp Manager in planning and executing all aspects of the hunting experience. This includes hospitality services, upland bird and deer hunting, and shooting sports. The role also focuses on enhancing brand awareness by delivering a memorable, high-quality customer experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Organize and oversee daily operations of Los Borrego’s facilities.

• Develop and maintain high-quality relationships with guests and employees.

• Guide hunts and shooting activities as needed.

• Explain the rules and regulations of IBC and King Ranch.

• Inform guests about available game for hunting and harvesting.

• Coordinate with executives and officers to determine guest activity preferences.

• Assign guides to guests based on activity preferences.

• Coordinate logistics for quail trucks, fishing guides, boats, and contracted activities.

• Enforce adherence to regulations and quality standards among staff.

• Conduct safety trainings and evaluations for personnel.

• Maintain a friendly, professional, and knowledgeable demeanor.

• Assist with groundskeeping tasks such as mowing, edging, and lawn services.

• Ensure roads to feeders and main roads are accessible.

• Apply approved chemicals spraying.

• Organize training sessions (e.g., CPR, trauma response, scoring classes).

Expectations

• Ensure successful execution of daily operations and scheduled events.

• Maintain high standards for quality, enjoyment, and guest satisfaction during hunts.

• Effectively interface with colleagues, company staff, and customers.

• Demonstrate flexibility to work weekends and evenings, especially during hunting season.

• Be willing to reside in a small, rural community near the camp.

SKILLS

• Clear understanding of hunt camp operations and management.

• Leadership, organization, and time management skills.

• Ability to conduct Boone & Crockett scoring classes.

• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

• Experience operating tractors and heavy equipment.

• Proficiency in rifle safety.

• Ability to age deer on the hoof.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE

•  Bachelor’s degree in game management or a minimum of five years of experience as a professional hunting guide.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word preferred.

• Professional portfolio with references and verifiable experience required during the interview process.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Work outdoors in diverse weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain.

• Frequent walking, standing, and navigating uneven terrain in remote environments.

• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (e.g., feed bags, equipment, supplies).

• Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing.

• Skills to gut and clean Animals

• Lift and move animal harvested

• Walk long distances to recover or locate animals

• Be able to climb ladders

• Exposure to wildlife, insects, and natural elements; safety gear and situational awareness required.

• Operate vehicles and machinery such as tractors, ATVs, and quail trucks.

• Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during hunting season.

• Comfortable working in remote or rural settings and potentially residing near the camp.

Safety Precautions

• Adhere to all safety protocols related to firearms, wildlife encounters, and outdoor activities.

• Participate in regular safety trainings, including CPR, trauma response, and emergency procedures.

• Maintain safe conditions on campgrounds, including road access, chemical application, and equipment usage.

• Ensure compliance with IBC and King Ranch regulations.

• Promote a culture of safety among staff and guests.
