As Legal Manager - Company Secretarial & Commercial, you'll play a key role in helping PZ Cussons operate with confidence, integrity and ambition. You'll provide trusted legal and governance advice that supports important business decisions, protects our interests and enables sustainable growth across our African operations. From supporting Board activities to guiding major commercial projects and transactions, your work will have a direct impact on how we grow, innovate and create value. This is a role with real influence. You'll combine legal expertise with commercial awareness, working closely with leaders and cross functional teams to turn complexity into practical solutions that move the business forward.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Help strengthen corporate governance by supporting effective Board and Committee operations and ensuring key governance activities run smoothly.
- Provide clear, practical legal advice that enables commercial teams to pursue opportunities with confidence while managing risk effectively.
- Shape and support significant business initiatives, including financing arrangements, restructurings and other strategic projects that contribute to long term growth.
- Build trusted relationships with regulators, advisers, shareholders and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and support strong business outcomes.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and translate them into practical actions that protect and strengthen the organisation.
- Coach and develop legal talent while helping improve ways of working across the legal function.
What You’ll Bring
- A Law degree (LL.B) and qualification as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court.
- Around 6-8 years of post-NYSC experience, with strong exposure to corporate commercial law and company secretarial practice.
- Experience negotiating and advising on complex commercial agreements and business transactions.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, legal compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to provide practical, business-focused legal advice.
- Experience within an FMCG, multinational or listed company environment would be advantageous.
