Description
The position is responsible for leading engineering, maintenance, reliability, and capital project functions to ensure optimal plant performance, equipment reliability, and regulatory compliance. It drives continuous improvement initiatives, oversees maintenance strategies, manages engineering resources, and supports operational excellence through effective collaboration across manufacturing, quality, safety, and supply chain functions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and develop engineering, maintenance, and reliability teams to achieve operational objectives.
- Establish departmental goals, KPIs, and OKRs aligned with plant performance and business targets.
- Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Develop and implement plant reliability strategies to maximize equipment uptime and asset performance.
- Manage engineering systems, utilities, facilities, and production support infrastructure.
- Oversee maintenance planning, scheduling, and CMMS administration.
- Manage spare parts inventory and equipment lifecycle planning.
- Ensure compliance with engineering, environmental, health, safety, and food industry regulations.
- Maintain permits, inspection records, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Lead root cause analyses of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Drive Lean, TPM, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and manage engineering OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
- Lead capital projects, equipment upgrades, automation initiatives, and facility expansions.
- Coordinate project execution from planning through commissioning.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Safety, and Supply Chain teams to prioritize engineering support requirements.
- Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend engineering innovations that improve efficiency and reliability.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- You must have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- You must be a licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME) or Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE).
- You must have at least 10 years of engineering and maintenance experience.
- You must have at least 5 years of experience as an Engineering Manager or equivalent leadership position in a food manufacturing environment.
- You must have extensive knowledge of food processing equipment, plant utilities, engineering standards, and maintenance systems.
- You must have strong expertise in reliability engineering, CMMS implementation, and asset management.
- You must have experience managing large capital expenditure projects and engineering budgets.
- You must have knowledge of OSHA, GMP, FDA, SQF, environmental regulations, and related compliance standards.
- You must have strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- You must have experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or similar operational excellence initiatives.
- You must have excellent project management and stakeholder management capabilities.
