The Opportunity
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Care, Complex Mental Health Care provides operational and clinical leadership for the Complex Mental Health, Long Term Care Program at the Bridgeland Riverside Continuing Care Centre (BRCCC). This position is accountable for quality care, resident and family experience, interdisciplinary team effectiveness, workforce planning, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement.
The Director of Care provides leadership for a specialized program serving residents with complex mental health, behavioural, cognitive, and psychosocial needs. The role requires demonstrated expertise in mental health leadership, and trauma informed care, complex behaviours, and interdisciplinary practice. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Director of Care will play a key role in program planning, operational readiness, commissioning, and transition activities associated with the new Bridgeland Riverside Continuing Care Centre opening in 2027.
Program Summary:
Complex Mental Health is a specialized mental health continuing care and post-acute program providing comprehensive care for adults with complex behavioural, cognitive, and mental health needs, including severe and persistent mental illness, dementia, acquired brain injury, and concurrent disorders. Through an interdisciplinary approach, the program delivers person centered care in a safe and therapeutic environment that supports quality of life, dignity, and meaningful engagement.
Qualifications & Experience:
-Bachelor's Degree in a health-related discipline preferred.
- Current registration with CARNA or appropriate professional licensing college.
- Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment, including leadership of teams of significant size, complexity and diversity.
- Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complexand diverse issues.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate well - both written and verbal, and engage with internal and external stakeholders. Strong leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.
- Commitment in building teams towards a common purpose.
- Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization.
- Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build relationships with, foundations, committees, and other partners.
- Knowledge and experience in the application of conflict resolution strategies.

- Ability to continually analyze effectiveness of strategies and implement quality and process improvements.
- Demonstrates respect for culture and diversity. Able to demonstrate competence in the development of new programs and services to meet the needs of the population.
Preferred:
- PROSCI change management modules or certification.
- LEAN, Six Sigma, or AHSAIW modules. Accreditation experience.
