POSITION GENERAL SUMMARY:
Coordinates and supports community service programming for youth involved in the juvenile justice system by managing nonprofit partnerships, supervising service activities, and delivering educational components focused on skill development and community impact. Maintains accurate program records, tracks participant progress and service hours, and generates required reports.
  • Supervises and works alongside youth on community services projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards;
  • Identifies and contacts nonprofit organizations within the community to develop partnerships;
  • Maintains all service equipment and reports problems to Programs Supervisor;
  • Enters Community Service referrals into database;
  • Enters timesheet hours for individual placement clients into database and sends out appropriate reports;
  • Enters youth work group hours into database and sends out appropriate reports;
  • Facilitates orientation with youth and parents to explain rules and expectations of Community Service program;
  • Monitors progress of youth in the programs
  • Ensures community interest is protected during each work group;
  • Communicates effectively with Probation Officers regarding assigned cases;
  • Attends staffing and agency meetings;
  • Attends mandatory training as assigned;
  • Ability to operate oversized vehicles; and
  • Assists youth with completing Service-Learning Projects.
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Previous experience working with at-risk juveniles preferred;
  • Knowledge of modern social service practices and philosophy; 
  • Knowledge of modern probation services; 
  • Knowledge of local community organizations; 
  • Knowledge of employment opportunities and resources; 
  • Knowledge of supervision procedures and practices;
  • Knowledge of group dynamics and facilitation;
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and delinquency issues;
  • Skill in supervising and motivating youth work groups
  • Ability to effectively work with community organizations to develop work sites;
  • Ability to plan and organize work; 
  • Ability to understand and interpret policy and procedures;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Idaho driver’s license;
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must pass a criminal background check;
  • Must adhere to the Code of Professional Ethics for Ada County Juvenile Services 
  • This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
  • Work is performed out in the field and in an office environment;
  • This position works between 20 - 25 hours per week with weekend hours being a mandatory part of the schedule and is considered a floater; 
  • Requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time, up to 8 hours and ability to lift up to 20 lbs.;
  • Requires the ability to work in the field for 4 to 8 hours;
  • Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to permit the employee to function in a general office environment and accomplish tasks;
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule on occasion.
