About the Role

As a Sr. Copywriter, you'll play a key role in bringing the Yahoo brand to life across performance marketing channels, including paid media, digital, video, landing pages, CRM, and other campaign touchpoints. You'll partner closely with art directors, designers, producers, developers, editors, animators, and marketers to create compelling, high-performing creative that is consistent with our brand voice.
 

This role requires more than exceptional writing. We're looking for a strategic thinker who understands how storytelling, brand, and performance work together to engage audiences and drive results. You'll confidently flex tone and style across Yahoo's diverse portfolio, from finance professionals and sports fans to millennial parents and beyond, while maintaining a cohesive brand voice.

You'll produce copy for a high volume of digital assets, building from previous campaigns and evolving creative systems while contributing fresh ideas and thoughtful solutions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift quickly. Strong writing, editing, and grammar skills are essential, along with a pulse on culture and evolving language trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write compelling performance marketing copy across paid media, CRM, landing pages, video, display, social, and other digital channels.

  • Develop creative concepts by contributing to brainstorming sessions, campaign ideation, and messaging strategies that resonate with target audiences.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, design, media, analytics, social, influencer, product, and other teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality creative.

  • Use data to inform creative decisions, analyzing campaign performance and optimizing messaging to improve engagement and results.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities while delivering accurate, polished work on deadline.

  • Apply strategic thinking to every assignment, ensuring copy aligns with campaign objectives, audience insights, and broader business goals.

  • Stay ahead of cultural and digital trends, bringing fresh ideas and relevant language into the creative process.

  • Develop and refine creative concepts using generative AI workflows to iterate on high-volume campaign variants and localized ad components rapidly.

  • Maintain exceptional editorial standards. Know the difference between an em dash and an en dash. Be able to explain issues with syntax. Have an opinion on the Oxford comma.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of copywriting and creative development experience at an advertising agency or in-house brand, supported by a strong portfolio of work.

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.

  • Proficiency in Figma and Google Workspace.

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing generative AI tools (e.g., Anthropic Claude, Gemini) to support copy development, creative production, and content optimization.

  • Strong understanding of digital marketing channels, performance media, and industry best practices.

  • Experience writing for CRM, social media, paid media, landing pages, and other performance marketing channels.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborative, adaptable, and receptive to feedback.

The compensation for this position ranges from $90,750.00 - $188,750.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
