Our Global Legal Function supports KONE worldwide, helping us achieve our business goals in line with our strategy. We are a team of around 180 legal professionals across more than 25 countries.
We are now looking for a Legal Counsel to join KONE’s Marine Business. This is a great opportunity to work in an international environment and contribute to exciting projects. At KONE Marine, a dedicated business unit of KONE, we deliver safe, reliable, and energy-efficient marine elevators, escalators, and people flow solutions for cruise ships, ferries, and cargo vessels. As a full-service OEM supplier with more than 4,800 installations worldwide, we are a trusted global partner for shipowners, shipyards, naval architects, and operators.
From newbuild design to modernization, we provide end-to-end lifecycle support that keeps people and materials moving smoothly at sea — while helping reduce fuel use and emissions with energy-efficient technologies.
What you’ll do
Advise and support KONE’s Marine Business and serve as a member of the global Marine Leadership Team.
Support the growth and development of the Marine Business.
Review, draft, and negotiate customer and supplier contracts and other legal documents related to the Marine Business.
Draft and maintain contract templates.
Develop, implement, and update relevant legal and compliance policies and guidelines.
Manage and resolve legal disputes.
Follow changes in laws and regulations and advise on how they impact KONE Marine Business.
Lead and operate KONE’s compliance program within Marine Business.
Organize legal and compliance training for the Marine Business organization.
You will report to the Vice President, Legal, Corporate based in Espoo, Finland with a dotted-line relationship to Head of KONE Marine Business.
What we’re looking for
A legal degree
At least five years of relevant experience (in-house or law firm)
Strong negotiation and drafting skills
Fluency in English and Finnish (other languages an advantage)
A proactive, determined, solution-oriented mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
Great communication and decision-making skills
Customer-focused
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships
International work or study experience is an advantage
This role may require some travel
Additional details
This is a permanent role.
Preferred start: early September 2026.
