Functions
Field Engineering II will work closely with team members too:
- Coordinates and interacts with the design disciplines, clients, vendors, and production / craft when necessary.
- Apply standard design principles and theories to resolve production problems and stop work issues.
- Where necessary and with the concurrence of discipline supervisors, review and modify production/fabrication drawings of all systems.
- Assist with construction planning support activities.
- Review documents, piping and HVAC diagrams, mechanical systems, equipment design and functions and performance analyses
- Assist in the integration of the design in Production and work closely with shipyard personnel.
- Production of detailed plans of action and deficiency reports to support the project objectives and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications.
- Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the review of drawings.
- Make required changes, additions, and/or revisions, as directed by the immediate supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Reporting Relationship
- This position will report to Field Engineering Supervisor
Qualifications
Education/Experience: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering Required
Qualified candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience:
- Should have 6-15 years of experience in either commercial marine or governments shipbuilding programs
- Have good analytical skills.
- Be capable of working with minimum supervision to accomplish assigned tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to interpret contract requirements and specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD.
- Capable of learning department-specific software programs to assist in various analyses.
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Card required. Desired
The following knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience are preferred but not required:
- Experience with ABS rules
Working Conditions
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the environment is low to moderate, such as in an office environment except when working onboard.

This job is operated in an office environment.
Also, co-located with production working together on daily technical and production issues on the ship. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and smartphones.
