Husky Health Center at the University of Washington has an excellent opportunity for a Registered Dietitian to join our growing clinical staff.
About this Opportunity:
Reporting to the Medical Director, this position will work closely with clinicians and campus partners to help educate students about nutritional health and provide dietary counseling to patients with a broad spectrum of medical needs.
This is 100% FTE, 10-12-month onsite position
Salary Range - $5,760 - $8,241 per month
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care 70%
Assess patient nutritional and health needs, provide dietary counseling and prescribe or modify therapeutic diets to address dietary issues and support healthy eating habits
Make nutrition plan recommendations for patients with nutritional issues such as eating disorders, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, PMOS, RED-S, Health At Every Size, family risk factors, etc
Serve as a nutrition consultant for other members of the health care team
Work closely with medical providers and appropriately seek consultation to develop nutritional recommendations for patients
Recommend to medical staff medication use or dosage to optimize nutritional therapy and address food and drug interactions for designated medications
Review patient records as needed to assess dietary compliance with patient nutritional needs
Education, Administration, and Other Duties 30%
Work with Husky Health marketing and communications and campus partners to develop activities, communications, and outreach strategies that engage and educate UW students about nutrition
Provide individual and group education about nutrition to optimize health and wellness and disease prevention
Implement and monitor state, federal, local and AAAHC standards regarding nutritional services
Develop, organize, implement and evaluate nutrition education for patients while considering their budgets, tastes, cultural norms, and health conditions
Develop and provide continuing education on nutrition topics to provider colleagues
Maintain knowledge and practice of the latest nutritional research
Serve as a member of interdisciplinary teams and participate in educational and quality improvement processes
Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
One year’s experience working as a Registered Dietitian
Bachelor's degree involving major study in food and nutrition or dietetics

Additional Qualifications:
Registration as a Dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, or eligibility for registration at the time of hire and passage of the registration examination within one year of date of hire
Knowledge of technical principles, theory, and practice of nutrition care
Skills in the design of therapeutic menus and diet planning, medical nutrition therapy and instruction for special diets and food cost control
Desired Qualifications:
3 years’ experience working as a Registered Dietitian
Ability to work with a health care team and a diverse student and patient population
Knowledge and understanding of Health At Every Size and Intuitive Eating principles
Typical Working Conditions:
Husky Health staff members are considered essential employees and are expected to report to work during UW closures for severe weather, natural disasters, or other emergency conditions.
Work hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Work location: Seattle Campus

Husky Health Center, on the UW Seattle Campus in the Division of Student Life, is an AAAHC-accredited outpatient facility providing high quality health care to a primarily young adult population. As a student-focused clinical unit within the Division of Student Life, we are committed to supporting the health, well-being, and success of UW’s student population. We provide comprehensive, full-spectrum primary and preventive care in over 40,000 patient encounters annually. Our services include Primary and Same Day Care, Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine, OB/GYN and Travel Medicine. We are co-located with an on-site pharmacy and a branch of the UW Medicine Laboratory, and we work collaboratively with campus partners like the UW Counseling Center and Student Life’s health promotion and prevention services to provide holistic support that helps students thrive throughout their Husky experience.
