The YWCA Rock County is looking for an energetic and enthusiastuic Child Care Assistant Teacher to add to our team! Hours for this role include a split morning and afternoon shift; primarily working weekdays with occasional evenings and weekends as required, on-call duties. The Childcare Assistant is responsible for planning and implementing age-appropriate activities and at all times incorporating a safe and social atmosphere. Provides support to the Child Care Supervisor.

Core Responsibilities:
- Maintain familiarity with all daily site procedures and help to ensure that daily tasks are completed (attendance, checking voicemail, snack procedures, lesson planning, child guidance, carrying out activities, cleaning up, and all other day to day aspects of the program).
- Support children to develop physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually; ensure program space is safe, clean and comfortable for active and quiet needs.
- Maintain positive interactions with children at all times; greet parents and children daily.
- Deliver the program in a positive environment of safety, support and care in keeping with the Child Care Program purpose.
- Create an environment that supports a wide range of activities and interests; enforce school policies and site rules and use positive techniques to help guide children’s behavior.
- Read weekly meeting notes and communication log book.
- Comply with all state licensing regulations and training, Department of Public Instruction Guidelines, and Young Star.
- Share in organizing and cleaning out the site storage area to maintain it in an orderly fashion
- Assist with the lesson planning process.
- Assist in setting up two parent events per year (open house, conferences, talent show etc.)
- Attend staff, departmental, and other YWCA meetings as assigned.
- Maintain familiarity with YWCA goals, mission and programs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, or equivalent; advanced degree in child development preferred.
- 1-3 years’ experience working with children.
- Completion of the 40 hour self -study course “Introduction to the School Age Profession”; or willingness to complete within 6 months of employment.
- Current CPR, AED, Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention certifications; or obtain during a company offered training course.
- Ability to provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for children.
- Detail-oriented with good communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to develop a team approach with staff, volunteers and community partners.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; enthusiastic, warm and approachable.
- Experience working with culturally and economically diverse populations.
- Demonstrateed good judgement when making decisions. Able to make collaborative decisions for the good of the YWCA.
