Position: Electrical Engineer III
Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer III to join our Engineering team with a strong focus on magnetic components design for power electronics applications. This role will contribute to the development of next-generation power modules by designing and optimizing inductors, transformers, and related magnetic components, as well as building component libraries and performing system-level simulations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about power electronics, with the ability to bridge component-level design and system-level performance validation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop magnetic components (inductors, transformers, and integrated magnetics) for power electronics applications with a focus on performance, efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Create and maintain a magnetic component library, including models, material properties, and design guidelines for internal reuse.
- Perform electromagnetic and system-level simulations (e.g., SPICE, Ansys Maxwell, Simplis, MATLAB) to evaluate power module performance and efficiency.
- Conduct detailed analysis of core loss, copper loss, thermal behavior, and electromagnetic fields to optimize designs.
- Prototype, test, and validate magnetic components using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, LCR meters).
- Perform system-level evaluation of magnetic components within power modules.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including power electronics, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
- Prepare technical documentation, simulation reports, and test plans.
- Support design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong understanding of power electronics and magnetic component design principles.
- Experience with magnetic design tools (Maxwell, Ansys, SPICE, MATLAB or similar).
- Knowledge of inductor and transformer design.
- Hands-on lab experience.
- Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics and Materials Science or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in power electronics or magnetics.
- Experience with magnetic component design, simulation, and testing preferred.
