Description

At Urban Utilities, our purpose is simple yet powerful – Enrich Quality of Life. With a $7 billion asset base and services spanning 1.5 million residents and more than 31,000 commercial customers across South East Queensland, we are committed to enhancing the liveability of our communities every day.

About the Opportunity

Play a key role in some of South East Queensland's most significant infrastructure projects.

As Senior Engineer Government Projects, you'll partner with government agencies, consultants and contractors to ensure major infrastructure projects are delivered while protecting Urban Utilities' critical water and wastewater assets.

From major transport projects to city-shaping developments, you'll provide expert technical advice, assess project impacts and influence outcomes that support our customers, communities and long-term asset interests.

Reporting to the Manager Government and Developer Projects, you'll provide engineering leadership and Project Management across the project lifecycle, from planning and design through to construction and asset handover, while navigating complex technical, operational and stakeholder considerations.

What You’ll Deliver

  • Provide technical advice and assessments for major government infrastructure projects.
  • Lead impact assessments and design reviews to ensure compliance with Urban Utilities and industry standards.
  • Build strong relationships with government agencies, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage project risks and develop solutions that protect Urban Utilities' assets and service outcomes.
  • Deliver technical recommendations and advice to support business decisions.
  • Support project assurance, construction compliance and asset acceptance activities.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

You're a collaborative and commercially aware engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and influencing outcomes across large multi-stakeholder projects. You'll bring:

  • A degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer and/or RPEQ registration, or eligibility to obtain registration.
  • Strong experience across infrastructure, utilities, transport or major capital project environments.
  • Proven capability reviewing designs, assessing project impacts and navigating complex technical issues.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Experience managing risk and providing engineering advice across multiple concurrent projects.
  • A customer-focused approach combined with sound commercial judgement and a commitment to continuous improvement.

At Urban Utilities, we believe our workforce should reflect the community we serve. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences, including First Nations peoples, people with disability, members of the LGBTIQ+ community, veterans, emergency responders and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

You might not meet every single requirement listed. If you are excited about the role and believe you can make a strong contribution, we encourage you to apply. If you require adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know so we can support you.
