SUMMARY

The Procurement Analyst II – Commodities & Packaging provides direct analytical and operational support to the global Packaging and Resin commodity categories within a center-led hybrid procurement framework. The position delivers the spend analytics, commodity index tracking, should-cost modeling, and supplier performance reporting that underpin category strategy development and execution. Acting as the analytical engine for the category management team, the role converts market data, ERP transactions, and supplier inputs into actionable insight — enabling category managers to negotiate from a fact-based position of advantage, protect margins from commodity price volatility, and strengthen continuity of supply for regional operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Spend & Cost Analytics: Maintain and enhance category spend baselines, purchase price variance (PPV) tracking, and the savings pipeline for the Packaging and Resin categories; validate reported savings against Finance-approved methodology and translate results into P&L impact for stakeholders.
Commodity Index & Market Monitoring: Track key feedstock and packaging market indices (e.g., propylene, butadiene, acrylonitrile, polyethylene/polypropylene resin, containerboard, kraft paper, films) and publish recurring market outlooks that inform forward-buy, hedging, and negotiation-timing decisions.
Should-Cost & Total Cost Modeling: Build and maintain should-cost, total-cost-of-ownership, and LPP models incorporating yield, scrap, freight, and quality factors to identify and dimension savings opportunities for category managers.
Sourcing Event Support: Prepare RFx packages, baseline and bid analyses, and scenario/award optimization models; support negotiation preparation with supplier fact packs, financial health assessments, and market intelligence.
Contract & Price Administration: Administer index-linked, formula-based pricing
frameworks — verify contractual price adjustments, maintain contract pricing in ERP
and e-procurement systems, and resolve price and invoice discrepancies with
suppliers and Accounts Payable.
Supplier Performance Reporting: Produce supplier scorecards and KPI dashboards
covering quality, delivery, competitiveness, and sustainability metrics; support
quarterly business reviews with data preparation and trend analysis.
Reporting & Visualization: Develop and maintain visual reporting and analytics tools
(e.g., Power BI) that give category managers and senior leadership a clear view of
spend, market outlook, savings delivery, and risk posture.
Cross-Functional Support: Partner with category managers, plant procurement,
planning, Finance, R&D, and Quality to ensure data integrity, support new material
qualifications, and enable efficient execution of centrally negotiated agreements at
the site level.
Collaboration: Collaborate with Procurement COE team on analytics, eSourcing tools/
techniques.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering,
or a related highly analytical discipline.
• 2–4 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing,
supply chain, or financial/commodity analysis, preferably supporting direct
materials categories.
• Demonstrated experience in spend analysis, cost modeling, and data-driven
reporting in support of sourcing or category management decisions.
• Working knowledge of commodity-driven pricing mechanisms (index-linked
and formula-based contracting) and market fundamentals for resins,
polymers, or packaging materials.
Preferred:
• Exposure to petrochemical value chains (propylene, butadiene, acrylonitrile,
naphtha) and packaging substrates (containerboard, corrugate, films, rigid
packaging), including use of market intelligence services (e.g., ICIS,
ChemAnalyst, Fastmarkets RISI).
• Experience operating within a center-led hybrid procurement organization.
• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
build credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, &
ABILITIES

• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (including pivot modeling and Power
Query) and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong
attention to data accuracy and integrity.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and e-procurement tools (e.g.
Coupa, Ariba, Rosslyn, others).
• Proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI,
Tableau) to build dashboards and executive-ready reporting.
• Experience with AI tools to leverage data and action plans.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill
complex market and cost data into concise, decision-ready insights.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fastpaced
environment.
