About the Job:

Under the oversight of Africa Medical Operations Head, Medical Operations Lead Egypt is leading the execution of MCO/country medical plans according to the Global medical brand/customer plans, defined at GBT/GMT level. To that effect, Medical Operations Lead Egypt, in collaboration with the local medical teams (Prelaunch/Launch Therapeutic Areas, Growth and Established Products) will contribute to lead the strategic directions and operational implementation of the Brand Medical Plans within the countries/MCOS of the segment, according to the strategic objectives, driving operational and budget planning, overseeing resource allocation to ensure appropriate prioritization of medical projects and studies in achieving Brand/Therapeutic area goals.


The Medical Operations Lead Egypt is responsible for contributing to the right implementation of the strategic planning and the execution of the medical plans, including integrated evidence generation. Project management and strategic thinking are critical competencies in this role to ensure launch excellence and seamless execution with appropriate allocation of resources and continuous risk assessment.


In the context of evolving environment and medical transformation, Medical Operations Lead is expected to identify innovative solutions and act with an agile mindset, with strong result orientation and openness to anticipate changes.


Medical Operations Lead Egypt acts within a complex global, multicultural and matrix organization as a point of contact between different function interfaces. To be successful in this role, strong leadership, collaborative approach, and stakeholder engagement abilities are also required.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Medical Excellence Responsibilities:

  • Support the Medical leadership team to drive alignment and coordination of goals, priorities, and efforts for Medical Affairs.

  • Develop and support Change management plans and associated communication plans and medical team Effectiveness initiatives in collaboration with MSL manager and FBM lead.

  • Lead processes for medical team goal setting and goal management throughout the year including identifying, raising/sharing, and implementing best practices, ensuring consistency in overarching processes and systems, and developing partnerships to ensure ongoing alignment, synergies, and efficiency.

  • Lead the identification and planning of training needs of the medical team including but not limited to mandatory trainings and training on relevant newly implemented Quality documents.

 

Medical Governance Responsibilities:

  • The implementation and monitoring of processes and solutions for local Experts engagement (locally and internationally) and Scientific Engagement Activities through CRM systems and their interfaces

  • Continuously review Medical Affairs audit findings and identify potential processes and solutions for globalization, harmonization, and improvement.

  • Ensuring that best practices in Medicine are shared regionally with the objective of continuous improvement and towards the most cost effective and efficient solutions.

  • Develop and maintain business relationships with Finance, Contracts & Outsourcing, Compliance, legal and quality.

  • Assesses and regularly manages risks and works to implement and monitor mitigation strategies with project leads, and appropriately escalate items to leadership should a deliverable be running off track.

 Medical Operations Responsibilities:

  • Oversees, follows, and actively consolidates Egypt Medical Budget ensure accurate forecasting and expense reconciliation, proposing solutions and mitigations strategies as necessary to ensure Brand/TA medical strategic objectives are met.

  • Develop integrated medical projects / programs budgets plans.

  • Develop and maintain projects forecast to provide management with accurate budget spend.

  • Ensures that all operational deliverables are achieved on or ahead of schedule, within budget target, and with quality that meets or exceeds the business needs.

  • Designs, recommends & implements new processes, approaches, or tools to manage team needs.

 

About You:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Medicine. Medical Degree or equivalent medical degree preferred, PhD or PharmD

  • Business qualification such as MBA, or Professional project management qualification such as PMP® or Agile Methodology would be considered as additional benefit.  

 

Professional Experience

  • Experience in managing complex projects, demonstrating effective communication and leadership, ability to bridge successfully between different fields of expertise and managing program risks and challenges (including scenario and contingency planning) and including budget planning and executing complex strategies.

  • Experience in drug development, medical affairs, or related field, including understanding of the current  pharmaceutical environment. 

  • Experience in product launch and launch excellence is desirable.

  • Transversal communication and networking demonstrated. Managerial and interpersonal skills applied to matrix organization, effective international, cross-cultural collaboration skills. 

  • Ability to work cross-functionally, agile, and strong team player.
